@Merry Andrew,
don't ask me
i don't know

i've had it before - you try and submit something and get a message saying you'll have to wait X amount of minutes before you post again - to stop 'flooding'
Normally it's been when i posted one thing after another (like the swearing thread) but this time - only one post did the trick. I think because it was too long.

Anyway - here's a place to be to wait.

Glad to see you better MA

@Endymion,
16:20 here, got a few hours yet to go

i hope you realize i wasn't implying that you listen to crappy music, i was simply making a "kind of music you hear on hold" joke, sometimes on has to think about wether some jokes are intercontinental

Hey Endy

(At least you got to listen to some wonderful elavator music!!! Wink )

Here's the response I got when I had similar problems & asked about the "flood prevention" feature, a while aga. Maybe a bit more tweaking is needed?:

Quote:
It's been around about a week, I think it's too aggressive and needs some tweaking but there is a threshold of volume that most would agree is worth preventing.

The aim is to prevent the ability for one user to hijack topics just by sheer volume and create pages and pages of posts (like the copy paste wars that used to happen on Abuzz where people would try to end the discussion just by posting a large number of large texts to the thread), but the variables need to be tweaked to strike a better balance and interfere with non-abusive posting less often.

it does all seem a bit...i dunno...
the term 'flood prevention' ...

it's like being met by a bouncer on the door of a club doing one-in-one-outs

'Hold it.'

This is explained somewhere on the Blog (see the link at the bottom of the page). It's a kind of anti spam device, I think. It started as something like 'you can't post more than three in a row in a certain time period'.

Perhaps a little Brian Eno..

Just curious. though, Endy ... what time is it in your neck of the woods? Have you been awake all night? Is it new year's day yet? (8:54 am new years day here.)

Almost 5 p.m. on the 31st here.

I recommend some Rufus Wainwright if there's a wait.
