@George,
Oh George Boston people should have a goodbye party for Merry Andrew.

His favorite restaurants are the Texas Steak House in Brookline, and a Mexican restuarant going into Quincy. I'm not sure of the names.

Help Merry Andrew Help

I have some great antiques that I am selling. Ask M about them

So Merry Andrew, will you be able to meet with the Boston folk sometime
before you fly off to your island paradise?

I'm certainly amenable to that. There's a lot to do in getting my affairs in order before I leave, but -- inasmuch as I haven't even set a definite date for departure -- I also have an inordinate amount of free time. Let's talk about it. (I'm not very good at organizing these things, but always manage to drop in. LittleK seems to be the champion organizer. Smile)

Sglass -- the Mexican place in Quincy is La Paloma.

I see a La Paloma in Quincy, but no Texas Steak House in Brookline.
There's a Longhorn Steak House in the Fenway.

@George,
I think it's called Texas Smoke House, specializes in Texas-style bbq ribs. It's right in Brookline Village, Harvard Street. I know where the Longhorn is, too. Stone's throw from Fenway Park, smack beside the Landmark Center. Sglass and I dined there just one time; not bad at all.

@Merry Andrew,
Village Smoke House, perhaps?
Sounds mighty good to me!

@George,
Right George, Village Smoke House. Have you eaten there? To die for and
La Paloma has wonderful food.

Haven't eaten there -- yet. But I read their menu and my tummy is still growling.

We've eaten at several "Longhorn's". The one in the Fenway is not as good as
the rest in my opinion.

@Region Philbis,
There is a parking in the next block past Village Smoke House with parking in the rear.

La Polama can be iffy sometimes too.

Worth looking for a space in either place.

@Sglass,
I like to dine out vicariously with A2kers, so here's a link for the smokehouse. Looks cozy/comfortable.

I was going to say I'd do my usual test re a tamal and a chile relleno, but then I saw all the camarones..

@ossobuco,
At the smokehouse - I'm one of the few who has never ordered a fajita (I know, I know, so out of it) so I'd probably try the death fajita, perhaps with a stuffed jalapeno to start.. I might want to learn to make those, have saved recipes but not actually done that. Or not, maybe a totally different starter dish.

Either is fine with me. Which does the guest of honor prefer?

@George,
There's a public parking lot in the block next to the Smokehouse, as Sglass has already pointed out. It's metered but after 6 p.m. the meters are no longer in effect. Either is fine with me, although the Smoke House is easier to reach. Who all are coming and what are their preferences?

Oh, yes -- and when?

The when depends on you. You're the one recuperating. You're the one [sob]
leaving. I'll be there and I'm sure Jes and RP will come as well. (By the by, I
can't wait to see Jes!) We'll be hearing from the rest of the usual suspects within
a week or so. I'll link to this post from the "Psst, Boston" thread.

As for where, you may have noticed from previous gatherings that we don't do
well with choices. So pick the one you like best.

OK. Unilateral decision -- Village Smoke House. Btw, they have a function room downstairs. Might be worth giving them a call to see whether we can get that (providing there'll be enough people) without incurring extra charges. As to when, that's partly dependent on everybody else's schedules. As I'm currently unemployed, I'm fairly flexible in my schedule.

@Merry Andrew,
Haven't received your E mail through my Road Runner account and I was checking the Spam files to make sure it didn't get kicked out.
