Do Hamsters Chirp????

Reply Tue 2 Dec, 2008 10:04 am
Something very weird is happening today. From time to time, when I am on A2K, my computer emits a chirping sound, every few seconds. It does not happen on any other website, and it does not happen all the time.

Are the hamsters emitting a distress call? I would hate to think that those fluffy creatures were in some sort of trouble, and I did nothing to help. Please advise.

@Phoenix32890,
do you hear it if you mute the sound?

@Region Philbis,
Nope- The little critters are crying, and the sound is coming from my speakers.

@Phoenix32890,
have you muted them? did you unplug them also? try that and see if you still get a noise.

@Ragman,
Clearly the hamsters have broken their vows of silence.

I'll have a word with them later.

In ASL.

@Phoenix32890,
Here's a somewhat off chance, perhaps there's a battery backup that is letting you know it's running down. I recall I had that happen on a computer that I had a few years ago. I think it was the batt. backup for the power to keep the computer's clock accurate in case of power loss.

@Ragman,
Is it possible that it's not just when you're on A2K? Have you unplugged your speakers and seen whether or no it repeats itself?

@dlowan,
They're carrying on a heated conversation in ASL.

@Phoenix32890,
Curious: Wondering if I am on Phoenix's ignore list? Love to know what the chirping was, but never saw her reply.

@jespah,
Phoenix? Hello? Am I banished? I hate to be a nuisance ...but....?

Can someone help?

Jespah or is there anyone that could help me with this? Can someone tell me if they know or can find out if Phoenix has me on ignore? I can't imagine anything I said or have done or any interaction we EVEr have clashed on, so perhaps it's just a case of she's busy, didn't think of replying, forgot or something like that. I'd be mortified if it was something else.

@Ragman,
I have no way of knowing if she has you on Ignore. She probably doesn't -- I suspect it's more likely that she forgot about the topic. May even have voted it down to clear it (I've done that with many of my own topics; it's not unusual).

@Phoenix32890,
Did you perchance have a chat room open? Or perhaps the hamsters were trying to text you?
