@farmerman,
I'm neither a hobbist or a rockhound (but I did take an Earth Science class) and I got 2 of 10 (if you don't count my guesses).

@farmerman,
6/10, based on lucky guessing and knowing the colors of my metal compounds. But, it's a good thing I'm not a geologist.

I know absolutely nothing about petrology, mineralogy or gemology and still managed to get three correct. Only one of those three was a complete stab in the dark.

@farmerman,
Neat quiz farmerman.
Have you ever come across pyrite and quartz together? The perfectly square shape of the pyrite has me scratching my head. So beautiful.

@alex240101,
Quartz and the various pyrites often occur together. Of course, in certain rock types, the pyrite actually grades into gold containing metal sulfides.
More gold is actually found in pyrite as part of the crystal lattice, than is found in "nuggets" or metal .

Im glad you guys enjoyed the quiz.

@farmerman,
Five right, all complete guesses. What's good about this is the inclusion of all sorts of learning sources..

40% for me: plus I've been brainwashed into believing the Earth is more than 1000 years old.
