Thank you people! Got to get to bed soon. You don't know how much your comments really mean to me... You have all lifted my spirits in such a kind and considerate way. This should be the last hand operation for quite a while maybe one more in the distant future. I am having this disease that grows on the tendons in the palm of my hand (I forget the name, it is long) Supposedly it happens to Norwegian people in general. My doc also removed about 8 of them from my knuckles too. My hands were almost crippled and now they are nearly perfect pending this last operation.

I love you all... and thanks with all my heart.

Is the surgery from an injury or some sort of other ongoing health issue? Hope it went well.

@RexRed,
If this is going to be an extended recovery and you need to be able to type for work/pleasure, you might consider a small investment of about $200 for a microphone/headset and voice recognition software.
I use this a lot with my transcription work and it prevents a lot of wrist and finger aches from prolonged typing.

You're probably already doing this too if you've had extensive hand surgery, but one of those squeezable wads of stuff people use as stress relievers provides excellent physical therapy to help your hand recover faster and more thoroughly. I severed some tendons and nerves in my wrist many years ago when my hand slipped from a window casing I was trying to open and shattered the window. That stress reliever physical therapy still comes in handy now and then to relieve occasional stiffness and pain.

That red hot pain you're feeling is probably from the nerves. An ice pack will help numb it a bit.

Glad to hear that, Rex.
If u had no pain meds,
I was thinking of suggesting maybe some 151 proof rum,
for medicinal purposes only, but I c that u r already taken care of.
