Software - installation question

Reply Sun 21 Sep, 2003 06:51 am
I had to re-install my Office (since I had to formate my drive 'C' some time ago).

Now, however:

a) I wasn't asked to introduce the 'product key',
b) in the middle of the instalatiuon progress "fault 1311" appeared, my computer obviously couldn't find "Office1.CAB" on the cd (it least, that's he tells me).

Sounds like it's not able to read the file off the CD for some reason. Try installing from another CD drive or computer, which will show you whether you have a defective CD or not.

Well, seems, it is the cd.

Thanks, anyway, Monger!

You might have to reinstall drivers for your CD drive. I went through pretty much the same process of troubleshooting not too long ago when I reformatted. Couldn't get the CD drive to read anything until I installed the drivers.

Well, by pure chance I found the "mistake" now:

I've installed "Xteeq Saystens X_Serup" and must have clicked here: (for Nero-burning): 'Deactivate CD-ROM shares whenlogged on'.

And I didn't read, what it says more down on that page: "IMPORTANT: It can happen that the Windows installer software does not longer allow you to install software when this option is choosen. Deactivate this option in that case."

What I did. Now all works fine. Laughing
