Wrong file extension

Reply Wed 1 Oct, 2008 03:29 am
I updated a progam and wanted to link it to the desktop icon.

Doing so, nearly all my desktop icons and programs in 'start' got the ending/file extension xxx.Ink.

Recovery didn't work. Linking the programs again (from the drive) doesn't work either: instead of xxx.exe the ending 'Ink' comes up again.

(I'm running on Vista.)

Hoping that some of you cracks have an idea ...

@George,
If I knew that ...

Actually, I had to start the windows recovery from the file. That worked.

@Walter Hinteler,
".LNK" is the file extension for a shortcut. Usually it's hidden, so all you see is the name of the file to which the shortcut points.

@DrewDad,
Thanks - unfortunately is was the shortcut to the program I'd updated last.
