Ed Hochuli Giving the Broncos a Stolen "W"

What I would like to say to Ed Hochuli:
You were my favorite NFL referee, fair, knowledgeable, and entertaining. But you made one of the worst calls known to man during the Chargers - Broncos game. Worse still, it directly affected the outcome of the game. It gave the game to the Broncos, possibly affecting playoff seeding, which would in turn cost the Chargers another year, making Ladanian Tomlinson a year older, possibly costing one of the greatest NFL athletes of all time a legitimate shot at a champion's ring, all because you got hasty, sloppy, blinked 18 times in the space of a second and missed a fumble an entire stadium could have called. All of this, of course, after you had given the Broncos an undeserved interception that didn't hold up on replay but you gave it to them anyway. You discredited yourself, the NFL, officiating throughout football in general, and stole more from an organization with your pie-hole than a mugger could in a life of crime.

The NFL says they will "downgrade" you. Is that enough?

@Lusatian,
NFL will look into changing rule
Quote:
"It's going to require a great deal of discussion," said Titans coach Jeff Fisher, the cochairman of the competition committee. "It's happened at times. It happened in a game against us at Indianapolis years ago. ... When the whistle blows and the pass is ruled incomplete, there's just no way currently that you can award possession."

@Lusatian,
if the chargers let this affect the course of their season, they don't deserve to make the playoffs.
move on, and play better -- don't give the oppostion a chance to beat you like that again...

The San Diego Chargers and their fans are already the greatest whiny
crybabies in the NFL. They will be years recovering from this.

Referee association backs Hochuli
Quote:
WYLIE, Texas (AP) -- Ed Hochuli received the support of the NFL Referees Association on Tuesday, two days after he botched a call at the end of the San Diego-Denver game that allowed the Broncos to keep possession and go on to score the winning points.

"No one feels worse about this than Ed, but like the coaches and players in our high-speed game, mistakes will occur," NFLRA executive director Tim Millis said in a statement.
