I tied a disposable camera to a bench with a sign that read:

Good afternoon,
I attached this camera to the bench so you could take pictures. Seriously. So have fun. I'll be back later this evening to pick it up.
Love, Jay / The Plug

When I retrieved the camera that night, I was happy to find that the entire roll of film had been shot. Below are the photos that were taken.

@Robert Gentel,
Makes me think of all of those disposable cameras people put out at weddings. Sometimes you get good photos back.

Great, now I just added two more websites to my "time suckers" folder in my favorites.

Once Toad and I were touching up some spots on the ceiling from a very very high scaffolding in the middle of a church. The plasterers had their left their stuff up there, but they weren't working that day. We found their disposable camera. Of course, Toad volunteered to give me a moon for the camera.
Always kinda wondered what they thought when they got the pictures developed. (We did know them. They were the sort to appreciate the joke)

@Robert Gentel,
What a great idea. But I'm not seeing the photos, I only see the one of the camera with the note.

@Eva,
Thanks Eva.

Interesting-- people who would normally be strangers open up. Really interesting.

@Robert Gentel,
What fun! Seems alot of people had a good time with the camera - if anything you probably made the day of several strangers.

@Robert Gentel,
Have you seen those guys on the Cooking Channel who take pictures of various meals they prepare or eat in restaurants and post them on Twitter?

I was thinking the other day that I was surprised to find my Auntie in India is on Facebook (the fun photo-sharing social networking website). My Auntie is a rather simple country-living woman, but these days....who isn't on Facebook?

Your idea was really great. You should pick random cities to do this in (i.e., Baltimore, Beijing, Boston).
