I take it very seriously, but I've got two people on iggy now, and expect another to show up any time now. I could pass over their threads easily enough, but no longer need to put up with their off topic and insensitive interruptions to what I consider to be important threads.

Seriously, I do find it useful for a very small number of people...and more when I seem to be in a mood to get myself dumbly involved in stupid personal insult-fests.

That is, I can add a few when I seem especially crotchety or sensitive.

I have used Firefox in the past a few times, just for this option, because it can just get so wearisome when you have to see really horrible, irrelevant, highly repetitive or really distressing or incoherent posts all the time just to read a thread etc.

I'm like Roger, I'm using it for two people for the same reason. At this point I consider it temporary - I've used it a few days ago as a temporary maneuver, and these two may be temps as well.
