Really interesting stuff seems to be coming our way very soon here re: the site.

I will not censor anyone or any thing. If I did, I would have to ocassionally uncensor or die of curiosity.

People are just people. We all tick off someone at some point. Doesn't make us bad people for doing so.

Agreeing with Craven that it isn't personal. Getting to that understanding, however, can be.

I think Frank will agree with me when I say that I don't believe in the new A2K.

When this A2K ends, our internet personas simply turn off, like television sets. Yet such an end should inspire us to do good for good's sake, and for each other, rather than as a personal investment in some after-forum.

So now that the TOS is pretty much gone, what would one have to do to get kicked off A2K? Threats of violence? Stalking a certain poster and haranguing them with insults and personal attacks after every post they make? Death threats? Posting member's sensitive personal information for all to see? Maybe I'll see if I can find out.

As one who has gotten a week's vacation in the past, I don't understand why you can't just ban this clown, Craven. He is the worst, seriously. He adds nothing of substance to any thread that he's in, he is constantly crude, never amusing, and generally has lowered the level of debate considerably.

It wouldn't even take a minute for you to do it. I really don't understand. If I were to assemble a 'greatest hits' list of this guy's posts, it would be appalling.

If we're going to switch to a new system soon, great. Until that happens, why can he not be banned under the old system?

Btw, I don't believe this counts as 'answered.' This isn't an answer. None of the things you talk about here are what H2O does on a daily basis. You didn't write 'blatant and crude trolling and insults.' It isn't about his political beliefs, half of the right-wingers on the site want him gone too; it's about his intentional disruption of conversation, the kicks that he gets out of calling people puerile and childish names, the race-baiting, the inappropriate comments, and generally shitty behavior. It is bringing the site down to allow this guy to come in and, as kicky put it, **** all over the place.

It isn't good enough to say 'just pretend the **** isn't there.' People can't really do that. I've used the greasemonkey script to ignore various people here, and do you know what? It doesn't work, for they invariably derail every thread they enter, and others who don't ignore them are distracted from actual conversation about interesting things, in order to respond to a vapid troll.

There's no real reason not to ban someone who violates the ToS on a daily basis...

As much as Cyclo and I disagree on everything else, I have to agree with him on this one.

As one of the "right-wingers on the site", I am also tired of his rants and childish behavior.
If someone has a political difference of opinion with me, thats one thing, but this guy has no opinions at all except to cause as much trouble as he can on every thread he is on.

While I normally would deplore any type of banning, this time I will make an exception.

He reminds me of "HenryGreen", the person that attacked me on here when I got back from Iraq.

Maybe H2O could just be locked out of the Politics forum, he does seem to offend everyone there and contributes nothing. However, he's actually very helpful when it comes to water problems.

So waterboy is an embarassment to some on the right, there are others who are an embarassment to some on the left, right on I say. I have had my stint of being banned and I deserved it. But I will continue to favor no editing/banning or even locked threads. I rather enjoy waterboy/Okie/shiksa/mcgentrix et al as they do have great entertainment value, foxfyre on the other hand seems to just relish being a martyr.

Actually, it's kinda like reading a book and we're all just characters in the story. Just because I don't personally like what the "villan" is doing, or how the "damsel" is such a 15th century woosie, or that the "detective" seems to be missing some majoe clues... I still have to keep reading to know the whole story.

Think how many times references to one thread show up in another. If you ignore part of the dialogue, you miss what may be a really good part of the story.

Just characters, and it takes all of us to make the story really good. Too bad Kicky has already been killed off.

but fair is fair. And since I've gotten banned a couple of times for being a contentious insulting sumbitch, I don't know why this guy isn't OVERqualified for a week or so to cool off.

That's the point that really sticks in my craw - plenty of our posters have been banned, or given a vacation, for far, far less.
