Richard Diebenkorn was:

influenced by Bonnard:

No need to have it be high art-- it can be something from popular culture, grafitti, cartoons, etc. The only criteria is you believe or know the maker was influenced by the person you post them along side of , even in the most indirect way.

On a somewhat less prestigious and sophisticated plane:

The classic promo poster from The Breakfast Club...

...helped pave the way for this gem of a movie poster:

Tina Turner influenced Mick Jagger's stage movements:

Here's a different image source for the second picture in my previous post, which seems not to be working:

Shapeless, that is good. I've never looked closely at the chain saw poster--till now. How gruesome. The designers must have enjoyed making it.

Green Witch, who's the chic on the cover of Rolling Stone?

I read somewhere (can't remember publication) that the designers used the Titanic poster to make this for Brokeback Mountain:

There's the classic Axl Rose dance:

(fullest glimpses come between 2:20 and 2:45)

...which is of course indebted to the even more classic Davey Jones dance:

(most clear at the 1:10 mark, and then again 2:00)

Tina Turner. Mick Jagger admits he stole some of her stage moves.
