I love it, but my hubby turned it off and now I can't get it to work right?? I think I don't have the knobs right??? I called rain soft and they want $99.00 just to come turn the knobs right. No Way!!! We payed $7,500.00 and they can't do a free home fix.. What a rip off!!!!
I know it seems like a rip off. They are a business, they have to pay their employees and all associated expenses in operating a business. The softener failed due to your actions, which were unusual. You can't really expect a company to jump in and go out to every call and not be paid for it, especially when it is not covered by the warranty.
We were called out one time on a NO WATER emergency. We tried to have the owner, over the phone, go through a step-by-step process check to avoid an unexpected service call and charge but he refused to do anything. Well, we got out there and there was no NO WATER, but just hardness and iron stains coming through. Turned out he had the by pass open for nearly a week and stains were appearing. He just stopped using water until we got there. It was a 45 minute one way trip, after hours, and he was charged. Imagine that he thought that it was unfair because all we did was turn on the bypass!
I don't mean to sound negative but that is the reality of business. I agree that $7,500 for a softener that can't be easily managed by the owner is a crying shame. There should be an operator's manual that explains all the necessary functions. It sounds like he did more than just simply turn it off.
Of course, it would serve them well in public relations to do a free check up/service while they were in the area. We do that all the time.
My first question is why did he turn it off? Was there a problem? If there was a problem, then maybe a warranty issue can be called. I seem to remember the word LIFETIME in their presentations being repeated over and again.
I hope you can get it resolved here.
