Energy audit of home...tell me about them

How to find a decent one...how will i know they are doing 'the right thing' when they test the home...what should be included in the test and how long should it take?

Don't your utility companies do 'em for free? I recall the electric company did ours several years ago. I think it took about an hour (this was over a decade ago); they recommended adding insulation.

I can see why you'd be wary. If the company behind the audit is a window manufacturer, they'll try to sell you new windows. If they are a 3M distributor, they'll try to tell you window and door stripping. If they are the energy company... they might not tell you all you need to know.
