It is not presumption on my part to point out that you've posted a long ranting screed--it is a self-evident statement. I have pointed out that you begin your disquisition with an unwarranted assumption about those who might read it. If that ignites your ire, than perhaps you ought not to have made the assumption, and left yourself open to that criticism. Stand down if you will, my experience of your writing so far is that you are not equipped to engage in a rhetorical exchange.

If this initial post is indicative of the thoughts you've shared in all these other fora you mentioned, my guess is you could hold a convention of everyone you've influenced in a phone booth.

You have some thoughts that may be worthwhile, but your presentation is presumptuous and insulting.

Regroup!

Stop being a messiah. I doubt if anyone will ever buy "great truths" "revealed" the way you offer yours.

'Stop being a messiah'. So you noticed. And yes, all things considered, my post is quite insulting, in general. But such things are to be expected, and I have expected much of it. As for your guess, you could be right. Or you could be wrong. I myself am not concerned. If there is only one, then maybe that one will bring one, and if that keeps it up, the message still spreads. Just a tad bit slower.

Messianism is one of the perils of human experience, and, as with all other forms of communication and non-communication, the internet has accelerated and expanded the phenomenon.

Actually I sleep the sleep of the tormented. My sleeps are short, but sweet.

Where do you get your hairshirts? I'm sure that it is not easy to play the part of the voice crying in the wilderness these days.

A 'perfect' example you say. Yet you didn't even specifiy the example you were refering to. That sounds like assumption to me on your part.

Doctor -- I encourage you to read beyond the first sentence. My second sentence identifies the example you seek.
When you suppose this and suppose that, it lowers your credibility.
Unwarranted assumptions.

When you accuse this and accuse that, based on unwarranted assumptions, it makes people alienated and defensive. It may be more effective to write in the third person more often, as newspaper journalists are trained to do. That way the topic of each sentence is not "you" the reader, but your ideas themselves.

Just some friendly advise, if you'd like people to receive your ideas more easily.
I'd love to discuss the ideas in your original post, but can't start doing that until you stop putting people down in your replies.

No. Your feigned innocence ignites my ire. You pretend to be guitless of your bigoted judgements of me while using a single sentence of mine as a reason for your actions. You talk much but hear very little of what you actually say.

Repeat: accusing me of assumption when you yourself are full of it.

Mr codebug, have you noticed that it is the people who reply to me who are putting *me* down? Why don't you read your own first post to me. Then check back with me about putting folk down.

People reply in kind, good Doctor.

Why don't you read what I wrote, and then check back with me about your particular involvement with it.

Just as you were under no obligation to post.

Again, once you read what I wrote, then we can continue.

I'll be very surprised if the moderators allow your self-promoting link to remain here long. You still haven't told me where you get your hairshirts; so many questions: do you wear hand-made sandals, or do you walk across glowing coals in your bare feet? Do you eat from dumpsters, or do you rely upon Yahweh to provide you manna in the wilderness? I'm intersted to know how it is that someone who is so desparately concerned about the plight of the poor in the world can afford a pc with which to harangue us on-line, and the means to maintain a web site.

It sounds to me as though our soul doctor is a wacko.

See you folks somewhere else.

This thread is going nowhere -- although even I will concede that it is going there apace.

Actually, and I tell you no lie, I do wear hand made sandles. They are called Sunsteps. Purchased in sunny california about 6 months ago. Smile
Amazing. Smile Smile Smile

Nothing about my *post* is self promoting, everthing I have said about myself has been in reply to you, codebug, and who ever else has replied. All of your replies have been specifically about me. I don't call that self promotion. I call it self defense.

I can afford a PC because I have been MCSE certfied going on 5 years and up until I quit working altogether over a year ago to stay at home and live on the stipend I receive by way of disability in the military. I used to be a helicopter mechanic/crew engineer until an injury had me medically discharged. So now I stay at home all day with my family. The Lord God has provided for us and I need nothing more than I already have. And also, that xanga site is free. I've had it for a very long time, but you only see recent posts. I don't call that much maintenance. Smile

P.S. I don't wear hairshirts, but I am a Nazarite. Smile

Not self-appointed. No one called me a martyr but you. Apparently you appointed me.
