The Anti Bottled Water Movement

Oh no, I don't drink bottled water, I'll have tap water.

Environmentalists and the press are currently pushing an anti bottled water movement.

I have some opinions & suggestions:

FACT: All beverages sold in plastic bottles become a huge trash problem for the world after the contents have been consumed.
FACT: The production, transportation and delivery of plastic bottled beverages consumes a huge amount of fuel and energy.
FACT: This is a terrible waste of precious resources.

It is my opinion that H2O has been singled out because the powers that be are fully aware that consumers can produce high quality drinking water right from their own tap.
Restaurants can also produce their own high quality drinking water to serve their customers.

My suggestion: Install an NSF certified drinking water system at your sink and make your own.
These systems include solid carbon block micro-filtration, reverse osmosis and steam distillation.

Why are Coke and Pepsi not targeted?
I'm glad you asked...

One can't easily produce Coke or Pepsi at home from their tap and even if you could you would get your butt sued off.
Just about anyone can find tap water to filter.

BTW, Coke and Pepsi may want to start selling NSF certified systems because a large chunk of their business is about to evaporate.

Coke = Dasani
Pepsi = Aquafina

Read it again or have someone read it for you and explain it to you.

I have to say that I am a little afraid of bottled water myself. I need to do some research but I heard Sheryl Crow saying that plastic bottles that have gotten hot can leach carcinogens into the water. I would just as soon drink tap water.

And personally - the above makes sense to me as well. If we are concerned about the earth and global warming it makes sense to cut down on the plastics that we use that don't always get recycled. I am sure there is a large percentage that doesn't. I am not saying I freak out if there is no tap...I am just saying it makes sense to me.

Mine's from reverse osmosis. I've used the same bottles for years. They are polycarbonate, and I couldn't care less.

100% with you H20_Man

I'm lucky that I live someplace with good-tasting, clean water.

I buy bottled water for dog-walk purposes - don't like to use it myself.

Will probably move to using a thermos of iced water for the dogs in the next few months.

A few points (1) we don't buy bottled water except for occassions when we are traveling/camping in our RV and the water tank water doesn't usually taste very good.
(2) the only study I have read about contaminated water was that human opening and closing of the bottles caused all of the (commonly found) contamination.
(3) I'm too busy being alert to Muslim/Communist/Socialist presidential candidates trying to steal my guns to worry about bottled water.

I've been experimenting with putting water in cages, but, the chicken wire I'm using is unusually porous. Thing about cages, once it's perfected, they can be reused. Just hose them out and refill from the tap.
