WORD 2007 endnotes

I am presently doing a long paper. I have not used WORD 2007 for about a year. In doing my endnotes, I hit a problem - I have to do an endnote which is not a citation. Merely a comment, but an important one. I did the comment, but was told that if I ever wanted to copy & paste, or otherwise transfer the entire endnote at some later time, the comment would not copy. I apparently need a special dialog box or "draft view" in which to place the endnote before the it would transfer to another page or chapter. Is this true?
