upon the halcyon tranquility of his earlier years of personal freedom.
However, NOW the truant officer drags him to school; ( in chains ?; do thay use chains ? )

or maybe sees the story, or some evolutionary variation thereof on TV.
He discovers that VACATIONS (with NO loss of wages) r inflicted upon students
who smack other students' butts.

HOW to apply this new found knowledge ??
