I'm invited to a "Derby Day" party tomorrow (yeah, I know, I should have said something sooner).
I've already ascertained that this isn't a southern style soriree but just a neighborhood shindig BBQ and beer sort of deal but I thought it would be fun to take a Kentucky style gift instead of a bottle of wine as a hostess gift.
I was thinking maybe I could make some pralines (is that hard?) but I think that is a little more true south.
They are already providing mint julips.
So.....
Any ideas?
Something easy -- I only have until tomorrow afternoon. (I know I'm a slacker, please don't remind me.)
It doesn't have to be food but it does have to be something I can easily purchase a long way from Kentucky.
Thanks!
I have no idea what they eat in Kentucky - aren't they all on a liquid
diet? Kentucky Burbon, or so?
How about a horse shoe?
I have no idea (or idear) where I would find a horse shoe (or hossho) in the city at this late date.
But what about some fresh lemonade in some Ball jars and a nice bottle of Kentucky bourbon?
You can get a chia pet with Kentucky bluegrass.
A plastic horse toy...
Better, to me, would be a print of a Kentucky horse, like Secretariat... there is a least one great photo of him online --- except that I don't know if Secretariat had anything to do with Kentucky.
But you get the idea...
A horse porn Vid?
No... probably not.

Hey, I like that idea!
I'm also thinking something to do with the riders racing silks, their colors.
Or, are there some special colors associated with the KD?
