What do YOU believe are the most important qualities?

When considering all of the various attributes
and qualities that a person may have that are considered
to be of the utmost importance; like: "intelligent"
- "mature" - "non-racist and non sexist" - "honest"
- and "understanding that the two words; "ethical and
the workplace" are not mutually exclusive - "kindness
to others AND treating them as you yourself would
like to be treated" - "validating the feelings of others,
even if they don't coincide with your own feelings" -
"trustworthy" - "able to drop what you are doing
to BE THERE when/if one of your friends really needs you
(even though it may conflict with what YOU want to do"
- "a spiritual person" etc etc etc
I am certain I could go on forever listing possible virtues
but what I REALLY would like to hear, and what TRULY does
interest me the most - is what YOU think and believe in your
deepest & innermost selves are the most important qualities for
a person to posess in their lives. Ideally - we all grow as we go
here in our lives - and I would really like to hear everyone's
input on those qualities which are considered to be of the
utmost importance and value in their own personal life.
( by the way I DO mean qualities that one practices in their
own day to day life .... NOT qualities that one merely aspires
to have, or things that a person"should" have.
*** If it would be possible for you to join this conversation
and share with me ( us) what your own ideals, ideas and
thoughts are on this subject, I would most sincerely be very
interested to hear any and all replies. Thank you, Babs

**I just LOVE your new look, Craven m' dear.
I had never really even thought about common sense.
How like YOU that is.

**And Pieman - A BIG WELCOME to Able2Know. Thank
you for responding with "compassion" which is a bit
more along the lines of what I was looking for in terms
of a response. Maybe you could elaborate about why
this is your particular choice?

as may be apparent from viewing a few of my comments around here, i'm not big on picking 'winners' from a range of factors, all of which are mutually important.
That said, i will give 'openness to new ideas and concepts' a prominent place on my list of necessary attributes for surviving, and contributing to, the highly volatile nature of current society.
