I had cooling problems with my Vng 86. Radiator was pretty clogged, I replaced it. System shouldn't have air. To purge it, front tires should be 2 feet up from the rear ones and running the engine unscrew the bolt in the upper corner of radiator until water comes out. For safetyness I installed a manual switch to run the fan in case it overheats.
