Alpha Male

Mr. Tea has recently acheived alpha male status among all the men up and down the street.

He has taken delivery of a 1959 Pontiac Bonneville, in amazing condition.

He has spent the day holding court, recounting the hunt of the elusive beast to the gathering. Occassionally, he passes the sacred feather to someone, so they may speak. Later tonight, I expect to hear the beating of the drum.

The men folk are keeping their women at a distance, for fear of losing them to Wally's obviously superior genes.

There never was such a car as a StratoChief. That's too racist.

I'm sure that car was called a BigInjun.

Tri-power I assume. For 1957 the V8's stroke was increased to 3.56 in (90.4 mm), for a displacement of 347 inĀ³ (5.7 L). For the first time, Pontiac offered Tri-Power, three two-barrel carburetors with a sequential linkage (replacing the previous dual-quad set-up). Power ratings increased accordingly:

It does nothing for my libido....I just think of the petrol cost and the parking.

Is it the fins that make it alpha for such as decree rank via cars? Or the length???

Oh, this isn't for regular everyday driving around, it's a classic.

We own 2 fuel efficient Corollas for transportation.

This is for him to tinker with to his hearts content, a hobby, occassionally drive around the city, where it is guaranteed to turn heads.

A few times a year they'll have a classic car gathering on Congress Av, and all sorts of people show up to show off.

Some wimmins is into it, I more just thrilled to pieces he's gotten something he's wanted for neigh onto 30 years. If he's happy, I'm happy.

Don't some people collect classic cars in Oz?

Oh my yes. And motorcycles.

There's a "Bay to Birdville" run every year, where they all go past my window.

I am relieved it's for tinkering and such.

I just don't think big petrol burners are defensible. Kill the Hummer, for instance. (I just saw one of those things for the first time the other day. It looked like those vehicles the South African police used to take into the townships and kill people from. )

Tinkering and rubbin' and the odd jaunt....fun.

We call the biiiiiiiig cars Yank Tanks here....
