"Frozen" Computer

I turned on my computer, and while the desktop was assembling a message came on saying: Application failed to initialize. Ox800106ba.

It has completely frozen my computer. Even the mouse arrow is frozen in place. What is happening? What should I do?

turn your computer off - hold the power button down for about 20 seconds until the computer shuts down. then let it be off for at least 10 seconds, and restart it, note whether you get any error message. hopefully it was just a glitch.

Dagmarka:
I gave your suggestion a try. Unfortunately, it didn't work. But I'm grateful for your interest. When I last saw the message, there was another sentence: "A problem caused Windows Defender service to stop."

If its something with windows defender then it MUST be One of the window vista Versions.....

but i dont know why an issue with vista (Especially just defender) Would cause your computer to no longer even BOOT....There MUST be something your not sharing......
