Tomorrow night I'm going to grill some pork chops over charcoal. I'm a little tired of the same old bottled or pre-mixed marinades. I'm looking for something different. Do any of you know of a good marinade that would make grilled pork chops rock?
This recipe sounds good. It would be a good marinade for just about anything.
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon dried hot red-pepper flakes
1/3 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
6 (1/2-inch-thick) boneless pork chops

Cilantro? Never considered that on pork. Man, that does sound good. Thanks!
I love pork chops.
You can spread horseradish on both side and bread them, but that's more for the frying pan, I guess.
Here is a good marinade too
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 onion, cut in rings
10 table spoon olive oil
a handful fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, chives, Rosemary)
4 table spoon Cognac
Mix all ingredients, pour over pork chops and refrigerate over night in
a plastic bag.
For a marinade, you generally need an oil, an acid, and some flavorings. So experiment! I have pretty good luck with a good veggie oil, lemon juice, garlic, soy sauce (not too much - it's salty!) and whatever herbs I think of. For pork, I might use thyme or sage, for lamb, mint or rosemary... whatever!

What time is dinner Jane?
All of these sound good...
I had a friend, a well read and experienced gourmet person, who insisted a marinade involved wine, or acidic juice, that you used for x minutes, say 15, and then "stopped" with oil. For example, marinating fish.
I've no idea myself and do mix them.
I have even simply poured over maple syrup and cooked - for a really quick tasty sauce.

Anytime you'll arrive, Seaglass.
