Beautiful clear day today. Next week we may hit 50. I am hoping against all hope that the teen temps, even for overnight, are finally gone.

I figure that every day that passes lessens the chances of a picturesque ice storm.

The latest ice is melting. Any precipitation for the next ten days will probably be rain, not snow.

Rain and rain and rain.

Rain is not snow.

I'm sneezing. March pollen and April Showers bring May Flowers.

The grass is greener. The cardinals are singing their territories.

I bought some feed corn for the critters. One provident squirrel eats his fill and then plants a few grains for future use. Come June I'll have some cornstalks sprouting.

Daffodils sprouts are showing. Goldfinches are sporting occasional yellow feathers.

Snow and snow and snow here.

A stark winterscape -- even the roads are pure white. Not many people driving, (everything's canceled) and so much snow that the dirt doesn't get churned up. Probably a plow will be through soon enough.

This is a fairly wet, clingy snow, and all the trees and shrubs are weighted down by it, too.

Very windy, so interesting snowdrifts and precarious sculpted overhangs on roofs...

Yesterday set a record for most snow in a single day in Columbus!

Plow came through and built up some big drifts but roads are still white.

Soz--

Enjoy your snow. Feel free to use it all up.

I just saw a chipmunk. This means the pile of feed corn is going to dwindle quickly. Squirrels bury leftovers. Chipmunks make carry provender back to their nests for inclement weather.

Snow's pelting down here too. Supposed to be major accumulation. Spring? What's that?

Twelve more days.

At 1:48 a.m. the sun will be directly over the equator, snow or no snow.

I prefer no snow, no ice and sure footing.

Unfortunately, contemplating weather like this everything tastes better slathered with butter.

I shall be strong--mean if not lean.

I'm actually loving the snow. I haven't experienced deep, "real" (to this bred-in-MN gal) snow in a VERY long time. This is fluffy, powdery, wonderful stuff (I thought it'd be wet from how it's been clinging to fences and trees but it only makes a snowball with some energetic squooshing and snowmen are out). SO much! 12 inches (official measurement as per Weather Underground) as of 10 am, and must be another 3-5 inches on top of that since. Plus wind and drifts, so some DEEP places (sunk into my thigh in one spot).

How's the rain going? Staying rain, not getting icy?

We got more than 20 inches of snow!!!

Quote:
As of 5 PM... the Port Columbus International Airport had recorded
15.4 inches of snowfall today. This combined with the five inches
that fell on Friday... provides a storm total snowfall of 20.4
inches. This breaks the old record for storm total snowfall of 15.3
inches set on February 17-18 1910. The 15.4 inches that fell today
has also broken the record for maximum snowfall in a 24 hour
period. The previous record was 12.3 inches on April 4 1987.

I just saw that on CNN. Columbus, Ohio is buried in snow. The kids
will love it, that's for sure, and tomorrow is not Monday, so no one needs
to get up early and fight the traffic. Enjoy sozobe!

The biscuits turned out really well. So far it's clear and dry today -- but colder. Might or might not walk today. Basement is surprisingly not too wet considering all the rain we had.

PS Enjoy the snow. 20", as I'm sure you know, takes a while to go away, and during that time it can turn really grey and stay that way. The first year we lived here, we had multiple snowfalls like that and had a snow fort until late April.
