I had scheduled a carpet cleaning day with a company that specializes in pet stains. I thought I'd give them a try before resorting to new carpet. The coupon was 2 rooms and a hallway.
So I get a call from the guy saying that he will be a little late for the 10am appt. This young 19ish year old guy shows up an hour late and says he only has time for the one room. Now mind you, I've moved furniture out of two rooms, not an easy task. So I asked if he could come back later that day. He says he is willing to come back on Sunday.
Sunday comes and no phone call. So I give the kid some time and call his cell phone around 1:30. He says he was just getting off the lift and was snowboarding. At this point I'm still not mad because it was a Sunday after all and very beautiful. Perfect for snowboarding. He tells me he'll call in the evening.
He calls last night at 10pm. Too late for me so I let it ring. This morning he calls back at 7:30. Wakes me up to tell me that he'll be by around 2pm. It's 2:30, do you think he'll show?
Should I complain to his boss or just refuse to do business with them in the future?
How unprofessional is it to call a customer at 10pm and then at 7:30am?
Re: Carpet cleaner...
Complaiin to his boss? Absolutely. While you are talking to him, cancel the carpet cleaning. If this is how the guy does business, you will probably be wasting your money on the job. Very unprofessional.
I'm a little leary about complaining. My neighbor across the street is a retired woman living alone and just had he front door smashed in at 6pm. Had all her jewelry stolen.
You suspect the cleaner guy??
No, but i don't want to piss off some young kid who knows where I live.
Quite unprofessional conduct here and the kid will learn the hard way - by not getting return business.
The guy just called to say he could be here by 3. I told him not to bother, I changed my mind
What is the value of the coupons? If significant, you might call the company (not the kid) and reschedule. Specify that you must have a different operator. If the company wants to know why, I would say to tell them.
I don't think this is a case where retaliation is something you should expect.
Did you tell him why?
LAte for appointments late/early calls.
he probably hasnt learnt anything. But good on you for being assertive.
Good thing I cancelled and went to the dog park instead.....come read my new post
Marty, if you're afraid that someone is going to retaliate every time you
are about to complain, you'll become a nervous wreck. Get a security
system, but don't become a push over!
Next time, call Stanley Steamer, they're licensed, bonded and do a pretty
good job, aside from showing up on time and have reasonable prices.
I once took a private carpet cleaner, as he initially had a better price.
After he started, he all of a sudden added all kind of other charges and
in the end it became an expensive job, and the carpet wasn't that clean
afterwards.
