YIPPEE-KI-AY............................. we are here.

Is it possible to be awake for 44 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes " it is. Well, I slept for about 30 mins on the flight " that’s it since 2amUS time on Tuesday morning Shocked

Houston " errrrrrrr Dallas " we had a problem. In fact 4.

1) Flared badly " been in wheelchair at both airports - morphed up, hoping for pain to ease tomorrow.

2) Near close accident on the motorway. Too too close.

3) Little fella " yep, bacon sarnie, Mom being useless and not able to clear his windpipe " screams across the airport “CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE” (very politely, as one does, but verra, verra loudly) " Mr Houston dashes over " grabs S-boy from behind and gives 3 big thumps on his chest " the ‘ole Hmanouvere thing " sheesh " S-boy in floods of tears, scared half to death. Me.... just shocked at how quick it happened. He was scarlet " horrible " everyone crowding around us............. ugh..... poor little boy " not a good start. Brett ... from Houston " then had a long chat with us " told him where we were going " he hails from the MidWest " told us all about St.Louis and his Huckleberry Finn life and his work in Chi-town. Lovely chap. Couldn’t thank him enough for what he did.

4) Man gets on plane " rather a large fellow " bigger than large " sits down, breaks seat " completely goes backwards tipping the tray and all the contents off the back of seat onto lady sitting in chair (she was particularly grumpy about this as he landed in her lap) " so, they moved Mr Large Fellow to another seat " at which point, approximately over New York 6 hours later " said chap had a suspected heart attack a few seats along from us. Tanoy “If there is a doctor onboard, please make yourself known to the crew.” Crew all rush down. Thing is " S-boy and I tried to figure out what happened to the guy after........... we didn’t see him " and we were the last people off the plane. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Hoping he was alright.

All in all " it’s been a very loooooooooooooooong 2 days and a bit too high in the sky drama for my liking. If only we could have slept for the flight " would have been much better. As it was " it was hellish in the cattle stalls for 9 hours and 27 minutes " hour and half on runway.... talking of which, HOW CAN AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL LOSE A RUNWAY!!!!!! That’s their words after Captain James asked them the reason for delay “We have lost a runway”. Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Didn’t get here until 6.30pm ish " was assisted from start to finish in the airports " and am now...... over and beyond tired. In bed and hoping I will zonk soon. S-boy is still up with the kids.

So............ we got here " that’s happy. So glad the Chicago flight will be less hours back.

Can feel myself going off into lala land now. So very pleased to be “home” " have hugged Kelly to pieces " lay on the bed tonight and had a good girlie chinwag. Kids are brill. Looks like swimming tomorrow.

Thank you all for your encouragement " couldn’t do this without all your support. RH,JPB and Baz " thanks for keeping me sane overnite and at the airport " pain was a problem... didn’t see how I was going to get us here ................ but........ WE’RE HERE.

VERY HAPPY DAYS........

Eyes going now................ woosh and gone........... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I was once in Denver, awaiting a flight to Los Angeles. They later announced the flight had overflown Denver and went on to Las Vegas. In the old days, they used to joke that there were only two cities between Omaha and the Pacific - Denver and Salt Lake City. The Union Pacific Railroad managed to miss both of them. Things haven't changed much.

They didn't lose it in the way you think.They just lost the use of it.Due to stringent safety procedures,the condition of the runways are monitored at all times for debris etc.Bits fall off from time to time.Remember the tragic incident at Paris when Concord ingested debris into it's engine?

@Dutchy,
Hi Izzie! So glad you are there. How do you do it? 44 hours. And you still sound nice. Amazing. So glad that S'boy was okay. That is a scary thing for both you and him...and embarrassing. Horrid thing. Glad that 's over and that Brett was there to help. Nice fellow. Take care of yourself. Rest up. Enjoy those sweet friends. I am so very glad you are here! You know - we get our weather from Texas many times...so those thunderboomers you got this morning - we will probably get sometime soon. That's cool. Smile

Mamaverb- enjoy your second trimester. I am glad to hear you are finally able to eat like you should! Hugs to you hun!

So Dutchy - you get to go to bed soon eh? Dream of fluffy places. Smile hugs

THERE SHE IS!!!!!

So very, very glad you made it through. Rest, rest, rest is in order after that ordeal. Wow --- what a trip!

I got the one text. Sorry I didn't respond last night... thought it was probably K saying goodnight and didn't go downstairs to check my phone. I can't wait to talk to you, but send me a ping and I'll call you through my international number rather than burning up $$$ through regular cell or phone #s. Or, text me K&B's house # and I'll call you there.

Sooooooooooooo glad you're here safely.

Howdy to all the rest of the crew. How's your headache today, mis?

Hey there JPB...It is better. I am starting to think it is the weather. It is dull right now - which is great compared to yesterday evening. I'm such a whiner. I need to hitch up my big girl britches and move on! Wink I'll try.

Thanks for asking sweet friend. Smile

Welcome back, Izzie! I quoted your entire post, in case anyone missed it (although unlikely).

This is just like a year ago. You are in good hands with Rockhead and JPB.

See you in Chicago, Izzie. I have special agents investigating whether Tryagain is actually here in Chicago.

Car went in yesterday, showing an oil leak (not too bad) and later they reported it was the power steering, and apparently it needs a new steering rack, whatever that is.

Should be ready this evening or tomorrow morning....it's a repair under warranty, so no sweat.

The Moors have 4x4 camels, which can be harnessed to pull you out of many a ticklish situation.

OOhh, I've come over all Desert Song.

@McTag,
Good Afternoon Crew

SLEPT some. Definitely moving better today in that I can walk a bit - which is more than yesterday. Feel as bit as tho I've been thru a tumble drier.

That thunderstorm last nite was incredible. It's grey and overcast, has been raining on and off - dare I say it, it's not too hot. RESULT for our first day. I'm assured that won't last and the sun is popping by as I speak.

Little fella hasn't had much sleep and is a little cranky. The kids are desperate to get to the pool so I need to get them over there and let them play. I'm not going to be doing much for a bit - but that's OK - I'm "home" here. Just waiting for my meds to kick then - then we'll go.

ya know, I'm very chuffed right now we did this. On Tuesday nite I had a major attack of the "how the hecks?" Asking for help wasn't too bad - and S-boy, well, I just can't tell you how good he was. RH and JPB talked me thru Tues nite and when it came to doing it being "needy" wasn't as difficult as I was thinking it would be. On the plane S-boy had to get me in and out of my seat -which was actually quite funny. I asked one of the crew if he was able to go up to the cockpit - they said it would be fine as we were last off the plane - but S-boy came over all shy (surprisingly) - so didn't do it. Maybe on the way back - he deserves a little "something" for everything he does for me.

OK... well, have given the meds some time to work - so.............. off to the pool in a bit - will be like having a hydrotherapy session methinks. YAY Razz

McT - hope all's OK with the car. Hope wherever you are going - I'm sure you end up in a really lovely wee place, safe travels Wink

Mis - glad you're feeling a little better - storms may be headed your way - gosh, it was spectacular. Love a thunder boomer.

BEAgle - hope all is good with you hun - are in still home or PL yet???????????????? I've lost track of days.

Bazza - thanks for yesterday and yabbering with me at the airport. Oh, it was so weird going thru all the ultraviolet mazes under Heathrow - just so weird. Thanks for keeping everyone posted. That was great.

jw - so looking forward to meeting you - how wonderful would it be if Blue showed up in Chi-town. Ha.... methinks not somehow. Toots crossed.

oh........................ I gotta go - boyz are calling. Ahhhhhhhh Bazza you just called me - thanku. All is great. x

@Barry The Mod,
Then there was the pilot who made the log book entry "Right engine missing". This was followed by the mechanic's entry "Right engine found and replaced."
