We've seen a few passing here at a2k and each one of them was one too many. None of us will ever forget Danny, he put the gentle in gentleman. What a class act he was. Australia will be forever associated with Danny in my book. I know he's got many puzzles waiting for him wherever he goes and he'll spread sunshine there too.
something by one of Danny's favourite concert performers
let's dance

If Dutch can hear what is said to him tell him spendi said thanks for all the fun and laughter of years playing Trivia with him and that he will be very much missed.
And ask him to put in a good word for me.
And for all of you.

@CalamityJane,
Quote:
he'll spread sunshine
It rained, in Adelaide this morning, clouds were grey.
It's 9am now and the sun is shining bright.

Anna, you are always most welcome here on A2K should you choose to.
Shannon More - Hymn For All Those Left Behind
He always gravitates to the minor key(s)
As he navigates his way away from me
He claims a guardian for every sailor in the storm
But where are the patrons for those left on the shore
And as the darkness falls around me
He takes my hand and starts to pray
This is a hymn for all those left behind
This is a prayer for every heart left barren
This is a call for all the saints to be reminded
To sing a hymn for all those left behind
She only dreams in shades of gray these days
Now that her children have all grown
And though her husband sleeps just two feet away
When she wakes she feels alone
And as the dawn comes through the window
She lies awake, tries to recall
If there's a hymn for all those left behind
If there's a prayer for every heart left barren
If there's a call for all the saints to be reminded
To sing a hymn for all those left behind
If I don't make it past the judgement
If they never let me in
Promise me a mention
In that hymn
This is a hymn for all those left behind
This is a prayer for every heart left barren
This is a call for all the saints to be reminded
To sing a hymn for all those left behind
This is a hymn for all those left behind
This is a prayer for every heart left barren
This is a call for all the saints to be reminded
To sing a hymn for all those left behind

What a sad day this is. We all knew this was coming, but that doesn't make it any easier. It's so hard to believe that this time he really wont be coming back.
I didn't know Dutchy as well as many of you did, but I know he will be deeply missed.
Sleep well Dutchy.

I have no words to say how sad I am. Danny will be greatly missed. He has always been a friendly witty presence here whether to play a game or just chat. There will be a void on A2K.
I have no doubt, Boss, you are currently playing the threads, I expect Anna to tell me, you were moving your hand again, like you did last time..
Your comebacks at this ditzy, dizzy blonde as you would often call me, I will still say pfttttt to... Luv ya Danny, saying it loud enough for you to hear me.
You must never have tittered yourself off your feet Beth at one of Dutch's acronyms. And he could do it time after time.

It always amused me that Danny, an absolutely perfect gentleman, got such a kick out of posting in the Insult thread. And he'd revive that thread, if it fell silent during one of his absences, and then PM me to get over there and post so he could insult me some more. We did have fun with it--lots of fun.
Such a dear, sweet, lovely, kind, giving, NICE, NICE, NICE man. How wonderful it is that he leaves us all with such good memories of him and his company. That's an impressive legacy.
Like CJ, I can't think of Australia without thinking of Danny. And that will always be true whenever I hear this...
Firefly, I also got weak from laughter from the insults on the Insult Thread. The insults were so clever and when Danny would refer to his iron ore mines or being invited to speak to a group of dignitaries hot on the heels of calling you or one of the other gals "hot pants" or "man eater", I would almost be in tears. Every so often someone would wander in, and didn't get the fine line between clever and crass, they didn't last long. Danny was able to rebuke the offender in a classy fashion so clever, that they would wander off and leave the thread alone. He invited me to stop in at first word, I was very flattered, and happy to join in with so many interesting people. I will miss him and his sassy sense of humor. The world would be a better place if we had more 'Dutchys'.
