Ghostly Halloween Greetings dear sweet Ghouls, Goblins and Crew – except for those residing in Ohio, Iowa, and Massachusetts, where the night designated for Trick-or-treating is often referred to as Beggars Night!!!
As you may know, apart from my day job as a Trash Disposal Recycling Operative, I also pull a nighttime shift as Witchfinder General.
So it is with humility I can announce the demise of Belphegor who also somewhat surprisingly figures in Milton's Paradise Lost and in Victor Hugo's The Toilers of the Sea.
A brief 101 on the batting order in Hell…
Crown Princes of Darkness:
Satan - Lord of Fire
Lucifer - Bringer of Light
Leviathan - The Gate Keeper of Hell
Belial(Belphegor) - Mastery of the Earth.
Princes:
Beelzebub
Astaroth
Asmodeus
And before the more adroit among you ask if Satan and Lucifer are one and the same; let me quote Isaiah 14:12: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”
Note there is no mention of Lucifer! This is probably explained by: 2 Corinthians 11:14-15) “And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works.”
So what has this got to do with the price of turnip greens I hear you ask! Well smooch up as I return to the cutting down of Belphegor:
1,000,000,000,000,066,600,000,000,000,001. This is a terrifying number and would be particularly suitable for a Halloween episode of The Simpsons.
It is known as Belphegor's prime. It is a prime number because nothing will divide into it except one and the number itself, and it is named after Belphegor (one of the seven princes of hell) because it has 666 at its heart and 13 zeroes either side of the number of the beast. Wah woo wah wah woo woo, dum de dum de diddly, dum de dum de diddly.
However the reason for my visit today is to seek an answer as to what do the following have in common: Aristotle, Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes?
The answer as the most enlightened amongst you will have gleaned is that they all failed to find the answer as to why, hot water freezes faster than cold water!
Should anyone have a rational explanation, the Royal Society of Chemistry (Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BA) has offered a £1,000 prize to anyone who could explain how the Mpemba effect works’.
Dear tryagain I know you live in an area without, radio, tv or newspapers which reflect in your question which only recently has been solved and apparently you're unaware of.
The Mpemba effect, named so by Dutchy, is the assertion that warmer water can freeze faster than colder water. The scientific basis for the effect was discovered in October 2013. and Dutchy was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize for Science to be presented in Stockholm in 2014.There had been reports of similar phenomena since ancient times. The effect arises from temperature-dependent variations in the length of hydrogen bonds and covalent bonds between the hydrogen atoms and oxygen atoms within and among water molecules.
The phenomenon seems contrary to thermodynamics, but a number of possible explanations for the effect have been proposed. Further will need to decide on a precise definition of "freezing" and control a vast number of starting parameters in order to confirm or explain the effect. I feel rather humble having outsmarted the likes of past great Scientists such as Aristotle, Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes? I trust you'll understand my very simple explanation Tryagain of the query you have set yourself.
With greetings, now Professor Emeritus, Cum Laude Dutchy, recipient of The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Diamonds.

@izzythepush,
Oh no! Now I am hearing it - over and over and over - sooooooo clearly. Earworms thread it is!
Thank you for the nice flowers and kind words which are uttered every year on Remembrance Day, November 11th, remembering our fallen soldiers in all Wars. This is usually followed by a Bugler playing the Last Post, always a moving tribute. Australians are very proud of their soldiers and you'll find a Memorial dedicated to our fallen heroes in every, City, Town and smallest of villages. On top of that we have our magnificent War Museum in Canberra which every Australian visits at least once in his lifetime.
Please do keep your healing thoughts, prayers and good wishes going for him and Anna and KP will let us know when she's spoken with Anna. Thanku so much KP for keeping us up-to-date with Down Under xx
Also - thoughts and love to poorly crew - healing wishes and love love love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
