@vonny,
Yep, I remember '87 too and I was very fortunate and got off lightly in London with just losing a fence... that was big hooooley.

Keep safe in your part of the country Vonny Very Happy

@Izzie,
yikes Izzie - 80 mph is nothing to sneeze at.

I love a good storm too. But hate the destruction that comes sometimes. Look at you wrapping presents already. Wow.

Safe thoughts and prayers going out to you and yours Izzie as well as you and Tulip, Vonny. You too IzzY! Smile

Praying you keep the power. Hate it when the power goes out.

hugs you all
vonny

@mismi,
Our biggest worry, as ever, is the likelihood of our trees coming down! We only have a half dozen or so, but they are taller than the house, and only 40' away, and in full leaf at the moment. Waving around like billy-ho at the moment. Ah well, not a lot we can do about it.

Goodness only knows how people in other countries can live with hurricanes, tornadoes and the like - I'm a nervous wreck already, and the worst of it isn't due until the early hours of tomorrow. Rolling Eyes

Chin chin, I went out celebrating a birthday the night before the 87 storm and took the next day as holiday. I slept through it all.

Hellooooooooooooo ((((((((((((((JPB)))))))))))))) Very Happy

heh heh, I iz near a pink spot!

It's a tad wet ooooutside - the river's pretty loud and a drowned rat just flew through the cat flap in the shape of a very soggy kitty - poor 'ole Murph, there's a lotta fluff to get wet - he's having a mad few minutes around the house right now - does make me laugh, scattycat looks like he's chasing the laser light ... except there is no green dot on the floor! T'other kitty is snuggled up close - he knows the best place to be is cuddled up on the sofa! Maddie's pretending to be asleep - she can't abide getting her paws wet so she's sticking close to her bed and I don't think she's prepared to be sat on by Murph tonight in his current floooofy-challenged state Shocked

The devil in me wants to go and drive to the coast and listen to some big waves... I'm far too sensible these days Rolling Eyes

Not too much gustiness at the moment, in fact it seems quite quiet outisde (bar the river rushing by) - I'm thinking it's not gonna be too bad (ha, I realllly hope I don't regret saying that) Mr. Green The news does so love to hype us all up... better safe than sorry though.

Hoping everything is excellent for you and yours ((((((JPB)))))))) - love you girl, every day xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

@Izzie,
Ha! Yes, well, you and I might be driving to the coast together. Good thing there's an ocean between. You stay tight and hold on. It's looking to get ugly out there and ugly is the last place anyone needs to be (((((((((Miz Iz)))))))))) you too.

Glad it's quiet now...hoping it will stay that way for you. But do like JPB says and stay safe. No - no driving by the coast. I am not sure if I was ever that adventurous! Smile

Hugs you

@Dutchy,
Good Evening Very Happy

OK, well, it's livening up outside and

http://tx.english-ch.com/teacher/christin/windy.jpg

the river is HUGE already and so loud! Took a peek and it's 3 steps before it hits the shed, 'tis up and over the riverbank - but there 'aint diddly I can do about that 'cept hope for the best Arrow The rain's meant to be easing up as the wind picks up so... not too worried... not that fretting would make any difference anyhoo. All the garden funiture is tucked in tight for the night against the hedge - man, the garden looks so much bigger without chairs and tables.

The trains/ferries and many flights have all been cancelled.

I'm hoping that we're over the worst of the rain deluge in my part of the world - though there'll be a surge coming off the moors in a couple hours. I shall be zzzzzzing when that happens. Cool

Nice and warm and cosy inside and no power flickers yet so all is good.

Wishing all the folks, in the adverse weather, well and safe and without damage to any of your homes - and wishing all the crew farther afield, a great rest of your dayz and a lovely evening ahead.

Nighty night - sleep tight crew, safe and well, near and far. xxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Love xox

@mismi,
Just what I needed dear mismi. made my day. absolutely incredible beautiful day here. Sitting here and watching the telecast from the UK seems so unreal under the circumstances. Really concerned for Izzie and our other UK members, Vonny, Spendius and McTag, hope they miss the brunt of the storm.

Amazing world,, rain and storm in the UK, bush fires downunder with over 200 homes burned, fires still burning but believed to be under control. No danger to Dutchy's part of the world, well over a 1000km away.

Have taken the big step to fly to Port Lincoln over Christmas to see my son, his wife and grand-children. Still need my walking frame but should be able to board the plane with the aid of the ground crew who have promised me a special mobile trolley to save me the long walk on the tarmac. So looking forward to this and a long way forward to where I was 3 months ago.

Waves from downundr. ((((Crew))))

@mismi,
In my/our house before the one before last, we had a wonderful california bungalow porch, great to watch weather from, plus it was a well drained area. Mostly though, through my lives of houses, I've worried about roofs.
