@Izzie,
Nice mouse Try....

Thanks for the update Izzie. I'm glad to hear he is a bit grumpy. That and a lot of stubborn determination will get him through this. Heaven help Anna, good thing she is a strong woman. The mouse story made me smile. I can see him doing that, such a habit he has with his online word games and chat Smile Still sending all my well wishes and virtual hugs Dutchy's way.

@vonny,
Good Evening Crew Very Happy

Hoping all our shipmates are doing well still and life is being gentle...

safe and well

News of our Bosun

There has been improvement for our Danny Boy.

he was awake he could write ...

wrote to nurse

“wife”

nurse - wife on way - Anna arrives a few mins later

“where am I?”

Anna – “hospital”

“am I going home?”

Anna – “not yet”

“michael”

Anna “tuna fishing but has visited”

“straighten up”

(strong writing, Anna could understand every word) and she would talk back with him.

nurses sat him up.

Anna had a long talk with doc (she’s a wily character and got the info from a nurse whom she didn’t want to get in trouble).

Doc confirmed: heart and BP all A’OK

infection, staph infection – this they admitted he got in hospital (which is not unusual) BUT– Anna had not been informed of what the infection was and what had caused his lung to have collapsed.

The antibiotics are working and Danny is still “in” and “out” of it, but in his good moments he is able to communicate by writing.

Dialysis is OK. Just need to get rid of the infection and be moved out of ICU.

They are hoping to take out the trach on Monday/Tues and not sure yet whether they are putting in the talking trach – he still needs assisted breathing and food by drips .

Anna sounded great – she was so happy that this is the first time he has realised she has been there and that he could write to her – he IZ on the mend and now we have to wait it out and get him stronger and breathing on his own.

We know that soon our BOSUN writing will be:
“can you sneak in some custard” ........... hehehehhehehhehhehe

Anna reminded him of his dream to drive to PL to see his son and gkids and this is now a wakened goal – all his efforts will be to get well now and get home to his family. He is less agitated and more understanding (he still has no idea how long he’s been in and for the moment we figure it’s best he doesn’t know as this may make him push himself a little too hard to get home). He needs to take it slow and very easy... and time gone-by is not so important as the time he will now have in the future with a good recovery.

He’s exercising his hands and the nurses can see he is already trying to move his muscles and making efforts – this is all a FANTASTIC sign for recovery.

Anna sounded much less strained/sad... a little euphoric actually and animated about Danny asking for her. Up until now he’s had no idea where he was or what was happening or even that she was there. Knowing Anna is beside him will make his recovery so much quicker.

Anna and I are now starting to make up a chore list for him and a chore list for the ship... well, ya know, he’s been gone a while!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wink Razz

Great news all around. Thank you FS for forwarding on my letter and pics to Anna by post. I really do appreciate it and know it will mean a lot to Danny when Anna reads it to him. It’s written from “we”... the collective crew and he knows now that everyone is encouraging his wellness.

Thank you crew, for all you do. Very Happy

Near and far, love... x

Nighty night. xxxxx

@Izzie,

So smiling .....

No worries at all Izzie... I included this "mouse" for real, along with the picture of the mouse from here that you gave... I figgered. It's a girl's thing. Dutchy always, claims to be the boss of us girls. It will kind of glow in the dark, kinda, cause they always leave some form of lights on.... So, he will always see the mouse. Wink

@Izzie,
I saw the update last night over at FB. So good to read that our Bosun's able to get his message out again.

He is a word man and, well, it's good to know that's coming back.

I'm sure the nurses all adore him - we'll have to fight to get his attention back to us and off all of those others!

It sure is good news that Dutchy can at last communicate, but Ima not sure he fully appreciates that the first official Coca-Cola bottles were manufactured by Hutchinson and were called stopper-bottles for their thick rubber cork stoppers.

These bottles were thick, heavy, straight-sided and embossed with the Coca-Cola name and the city they were bottled in. To open these bottles the consumer pushed the rubber stopper down inside the bottle then popped it out, originating the term "soda pop."

I’m sure it would speed his recovery if he knew it wasn’t until 1915 Coca-Cola introduced the now iconic "Mae West" bottle, designed by the Root Glass Company. This bottle is the one often seen today with a slender neck, a bulge in the center and grooved imprints down the sides. The color of these bottles were uniform "Georgia green," named for the state in which the Coca-Cola company was based.

The term "Mae West" bottle came about in reference to a popular dress of the period, which the new bottles resembled.

I hope that polemic removes any impediment to a full and feisty recovery.

Have a good weekend dear sweet folks; I’m off to see if "I before E, except after C." can be disproved by science!

@Tryagain,
Good Afternoon Crew

((Blue)) xox

"I before E
Except after C,
Unless pronounced A
As in 'neighbor' or 'weigh'"
<neighbour *cough*>

Education is forfeit for reinforcing such rules!
Sound a feisty reveille while eyeing the schools!
Neither will our heirs be agreeing to deceptions
Once seeing, herein, these sufficient exceptions:

We were seized by a feeling
For fleeing on the ceiling
To a leisurely meal
With Keith, Sheila, and Neil

We drank madeira, so foreign, in steins
Along with a surfeit of weird blueish wines
Being foolish, took codeine, ate ancient proteins
Therein guaranteeing these ogreish scenes

Wherein we're canoeing to a new sovereign state
While deicing a kaleidoscope on a hot jadeite plate
And kneeing obeisance to an overseeing king
Our plebeian lips kissed his counterfeit ring.

Then we unveiled their sleight-of-hand trick
Deifying a heifer, with effect atheistic
And falling from the heights with a loud seismic crunch
We reignited the nonpareils we had heisted for lunch.

So I before E
Except after C
Unless pronounced A?
False decreeing, I say!

Come back soon Dutchy – no one’s laughing at my jokes no more!

A buddy of mine recently admitted to being addicted to brake fluid. When I called him on it he reckoned he could stop any time!

Breaking News: Cheese factory explodes….. Nothing left but de Brie.

Hi Izzie, hope you are well; and well done to the England team.
Thank you for helping out with:
"I before E, except after C." can be disproved by sCIEnce.
Not many would have spotted that!
Hope you have a good time with your Sis and Bro.

Waves to all and have a great week.
