@Tryagain,
<Smooches Baby Blue>
Good Evening Crew
I have news of our BOSUN
So, accurately as I can...
First up, he is still in the induced coma - HOWEVER - he has now had the tracheotomy and they will bring him around slowly/gradually a little at a time to see how he fares. The lung is still not inflated, but the chest infection is improved much... they hope the lung behind the heart will inflate in it's own time.
Anna was able to see Danny open his eyes briefly. He looked at her, raised his hand just a little and made the A'OK sign! YAYAYAYAYYAYYAYAY. He has no idea yet (and that is the best for now) of how long he has been in there ... but he will remain in ICU for another 2 weeks at a minimum and... possibly longer. There is long journey of recovery ahead.
Rather concerning was that he has had some heart flutters... they are watching and monitoring him 24/7 and he has a nurse by his bed 24/7 (ha, he would so love that if he were awake).
His son came back from sea and flew in to see him on Tues. Unfortunately, due to the "timescales" that hospitals do... and change... he was not able to see his Dad awake and was very disappointed. However, DIL will be coming down not this, but next weekend.
Anna as always sounds amazing
So, I have to tell you how we laughed... when they were trying to bring him around for a few minutes he made the A'OK to her... THEN he started moving his other hand in circles and couldn't quite get the co-ordination. The nurses and Anna spent time trying to figure out exactly what he was trying to say or do - then all of a sudden Anna said
"He's trying to MOVE THE MOUSE FOR HIS COMPUTER".... and so he was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even when he's semi-conscious, he's being our Bosun and playing word games. So there were many guffaws of laughter and Anna and I decided that was the most brilliant thing - he is is MOUSE withdrawl. Ahahahahhahaa. BLESS HIM
He has developed some kidney problems as they had to stop dialysis due to the amount of fluids they were putting in him - this has caused a few problems so they have now got him all rigged up and hopefully this will settle.
He's a strong man and he is wanting to live and be back with his wife and son, DIL and Gkids... and by all accounts - he wants a mouse in his hand (so makes me laugh)
This was the strongest I've heard Anna - I know I say it each time - bue seriously, she's one amazing lady. She's got a couple social plans for the weekend and it's great she's able to get out... it's too hot in the day for her at the moment but she's is seeing people and really, sounds incredibly "with it" considering all she is going through. Her inner strength is astonishing.
OK, so what else, I did reaffirm that all the wishes and posivibes and prayers were sent by all his friends and family and said that all over the world, so many folk care for the both of them. She is so very thankful for all of you who care and wish them well.
The news is not quite as good as we wish for - but you know what, he's getting stronger and I am praying that when he can breathe for himself, then he has a sure chance of making those recovery steps.
They are monitoring his heart very closely with this "unexpected flutter" but he sounds like he's in a great hospital and the nurses all love him. Well, of course they do... and he will ensure he is our Dutchy when he wakes up and starts flirting with them.
I'm so pleased to be able to say this was the strongest I've heard Anna and that though the waiting game continues and we're aware that's it's not all peachy... the fact is, there has been improvement and Danny has made himself heard by using his fingers to make the "O"
I, for one, have a verra BIG smile on my face.
C'MON DANNY - we need you back home with your wife and family... and then there are the chores to do.
BWBWWBWBababbahahahahahhahahah!
