It would appear that quite by accident, I have lost my sgian-dubhs; iffin any of y’all knows where I may encounter a replacement I would be momentarily grateful.

As a special thank you it is my pleasure to inform you that if you have any Scottish ancestry, no matter how tenuous; it has been agreed with the Scottish Registrar of Tartans that A2K members my register their own unique family design for the trifling cost of 70 UK pounds. So I sayeth unto you, go forth and find your crayons…
http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/

I bestow on you these glad tidings in the hope it will nurture world peace, and not as many suspect to bolster my tenuous claim for a Nobel Peace Prize and its associated pay check.

My dear Roberta, your talents are God’s gift to you; what you do with them is your gift to God. At least that is what Leo Buscaglia would have said.

I say, meh; your gift is to those who wish to read the printed word free from as much extraneous detritus, flotsam and jetsam as possible and in that dear Lady; you excel.

Contacts in Canada inform me that there is a crew member aboard who is a published author. If true, I find this news very exciting indeed, and call upon the mystery celebrity to stand and be admired.

FS, then we are even, for your words fill me with wonder.

Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

G’day Dutchy mate, a slight amendment if I may; down in this neck of the woods the official beverage is a moonshine that carries the moniker ‘white lightning’….. shaken not stirred.

"Well I asked my old pappy why he called his brew,
White lightning 'stead of mountain dew,
I took a little sip and right away I knew,
As my eyes bugged out and my face turned blue!
Lightnin' started flashin' and thunder started crashin'
Shhhoooh . . . white lightning
!" -George Jones

Amazing pictures Izzie, they appear to be in 3D – Take it away Frank…….

More than one, me thinks.

No, no, not me, though I did have a publisher once.
No, no, not that; a publisher with intent to publish my book.
You're probably the type that publishes yourself.
'Fess up.

@ossobuco,
My books were published by well-established publishing houses. I think you're confusing me, osso.

BTW, I wrote two textbooks. Nothing exciting.

@Roberta,
I was talking about my comment to Try Again, about him.

I know about your books, have for a long time, was being quiet for you to speak up.

We've had a few known writers here as themselves over the years. (I'm sure I've commented to at least one.) I'm betting there are some off and on.

@ossobuco,
My old friend PaolaL published travel books with her husband.
Our friend from England, Clary, wrote travel books.
I know there are more.

edit, I just looked up anthropology mysteries - that's it, Aaron Elkins. He appeared in one of our italy threads.

There's another writer tugging at my memory too.

@Tryagain,
Hi Try! Thanks for the mention on the anniversary. What's his name is doing well. Thank you for asking. Wink

I subbed at the highschool today. I mean I was a substitute teacher there. My eighth period class was full of teenage boys - the entire soccer team. The cutest little whipper snappers ever. And they knew it. I did have one declaration of love which totally cracked me up since it was so obviously manipulation...but still...quite the shot in the arm since I am feeling a little past my prime some days.

But I will say...I have a new found respect for substitute teachers.

Hugs Y'all

@Dutchy,
You -Sweet Dutchy are very good for my ego. Always. ((Dutchy))

Trying to move things in the basement. We are expecing a good bit of rain from Isaac. I am sorry for New Orleans - I know they are worried about this - and the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Mom and Dad are concerned of course...the storm coming in on the west side of them (Mobile) means they they will get a lot of the winds and the storm surge. Hoping Isaac stays a weaker storm. Hugs you all!
