I'm glad you're enjoying a beautiful day as your summer holidays wrap up, Iz. Enjoy these lovely days while you can. It's gorgeous here as well. The heat broke overnight and we've got 59degs on the way to 74 with clear, sunny skies. Love it!

Brooke -- you sound relaxed and refreshed. And, you're gorgeous as ever - even with your crabby face on.

Sending happy, healthy, healing thoughts to all the crew.

@Izzie,
I'm glad it's nice where you are. Took my son to feed the animals at the farm, and to quote Vivian Stanshall,
'The rain, rain rained like rain at rainy Rawlinson End.'

Autumn is here fer sure - all the trees are starting to turn (love the Autumn colours) and the leaves are gradually disappearing into my brook - which shall soon become a river again Shocked

I feel like I've lost a few months in time. Bizarre really.

@Izzie,
I'm not going anywhere now, brolly be damned. I've just picked all the apples on the tree, liquidised a load in the food processor, (I'm going to try my hand at cider). Despite having two tubs full of chopped apple I've still got a laundry basket full.

don't go getting no exploding bottles Shocked

If you’re using glass bottles, it may still be necessary to loosen the tops occasionally or the pressure could cause the bottle to explode.

@Izzie,
This is my first go at making cider, but not brewing. I've got loads of home brewed wine, and a barrel with a tap for the cider. Last year I made apple wine, but I've got so many apples this year, it had to be cider. Thanks for the links anyway.

@izzythepush,
I've never had any home-made booze better than the stuff they sell in pubs but my damson jam beats all the jams in existence.

Mmmmmmmm could have me some cider right now. Love the stuff. The apple wine doesn't sound so bad either.

Just thanking all for sweet comments with my blushing face. I think A2K should be called the "smile forum" as you can always find em' here.

Osso - that was a good read. I wish that a trip to Cancun were that cheap now-a-days. Heck, it costs almost that much to just fly your luggage, not to mention yourself, then the cost of the hotel room on top, etc. Craziness!

Been ordering/setting aside the books I will need this year for college. Glad I have a full ride as them things are expensive. Classes begin in 17 more days. I was thinking today about graduating soon and how bitter sweet that is. I will miss it. A lot. I'm very much a nerd that way. A big nerd.

((((Dutchy)))) Happy Father's Day, you dear sweet man!

Hoping ya'll er' enjoying this day.

xo Love, me

@spendius,
My dandelion wine, (picked April 2010) is at its best right now. Absolutely gorgeous, and a lot cheaper than anything you buy down the pub. I do have cider right now as well, fresh from Dorset's steam fair. I got 2L vintage and 2L Pear from a place in Yeovil, and another 2L dry from a place in Kingbury Episcopi. (The same place they distil cider brandy.) It's not very patriotic of me to say this, but I prefer calvados.

Thank you, it's very dry, the dandelion's quite sweet. The only one that din't work out was a pineapple and beet recipe, where I used turnip instead of beet. It's got a really strong turnippy aftertaste. Never again, parsnip makes brilliant wine though.

@izzythepush,
You're welcome. Be glad I do not live close to you or I would be wanting to come over for a taste of your wines. They all sound good. I think that is quite a skill.

@JustBrooke,
The main skill is patience. When most people start brewing wine they want to drink it as soon as possible. You've got to be prepared to wait a least a year for most wines before you bottle them. Then maybe wait a couple more years before you drink them.
