@McTag,
Totally reprehensible McT,but didn't I mention the loony minority earlier on? Bad news sells,good news doesn't.From the thousands of students protesting peaceably,a couple of dozen masked and hooded idiots spoil the day and grab the headlines.Note to the Commissioner of Police - ANYONE on a protest march should not cover their face.If unwilling to comply,remove them from the protest.End of!
I was on the protest march about the war in Iraq.There were over a million folks on the streets of London that day.There were no masked hoodies and there wasn't even one breach of the peace or arrest (that I know of).
As for Chuck and his.................................now wife,just shows how popular they really are.NOT.

What point did they think they were making?

I think it is that nobody takes any notice of "peaceful protests" except those who process the overtime forms. That democracy has been made a laughing stock and freedom doesn't come easy.

I agree that university students should pay for their tuition just as HGV drivers do. But this way of getting there is disgusting. The name Liberal Democrat has been turned inside out and I hope the result is to wash that silly party down the sluices. One MP from up North has had his win in the election set aside for telling lies during the campaign. The Lib-Dims told lies all the time. They were the only party opposed to tuition fees and they have facilitated bringing them in. There is no mandate for the policy. It was carried in the House by proven liars. That's worse than pissing on a statue in my view.

Wow! Politics and protests aboard the Yabber-Liner? Must be time for a nap on deck. Wake me when it's time for dinner.

@JPB,
You are correct, JPB. Here is a funny story about my little daughter Annie. Today she wore a button that said: "'Not a Morning Person' doesn't even begin to describe me!"

Me too, mate. The first time in my long life I had ever been on a demonstration.
Must have missed you. There were still people arriving at The Embankment when the head of the march had reached Hyde Park. And the street (wide) was absolutely full of marchers- about 50 abreast.

Maybe if we'd smashed up the place....?

By the way, I heard on the News this morning that it is already illegal to wear a mask if a police officer asks you to remove it. So they've got the power already. They just need enough plods on duty to implement it.

@wandeljw,
Sheesh - all that talk about depressing stuff...I have to scan to get to the good stuff! Wink Scary though. I see both sides - but when people forget that thier actions endanger others - it's a definite problem.

Cute Wandel - I use to be a morning person - now I am more a "middle of the day" kind of person. The focus factor seems to kick in for a short period of time somewhere in the middle there. It is fleeting but I still got it. Wink

How is everyone?

G-baby has it now - 103 temps the last couple of days. I hate sickness. Especially this time of year.

Where's Dutchy been?

temps aren't bad
it's obviously winter, below zero celsius, but we haven't had a big snow dump like Tai Chi yet
not sure I'm looking forward to it
think I need to get out today and buy some tallllllll boots in preparation

I was out last night - celebrating the last night of Channukah with a nice half Dennison's Dunkel, kishkas, knish and beef brisket - then BrendaLee and I went to a recreation of a Praetorius Vespers service. Great fun as the choral director taught the audience/faux congregation the first and final carols in German and Latin so we could do a proper vocal exchange. Good times!

Sending hugs and temperate temperatures to the Yabber-Liners.

I have a cat question for the Captain...

Bubba has decided to practice catch and release with the meeces.

she had a big fat one last night, and would not let me have it.

then she tossed it in the air, so the chase was on again...

how do you get your kids to turn loose of them?

(bubba has no desire to eat them, she's always got kibble)

thanks, I'll hang up and listen for your answer.

And there was I thinking that folks of other nations might be interested in the fact of the future Queen of England, Britain and Northern Ireland being hit by her future subjects with a stick.

Very Happy

@McTag,
Well...it is not so much that I am not interested. Razz

McT - I am unsophiscticated enough to tell you that I avoid bad news like the plague. I am a regular Pollyanna. I would much rather see the happy things than the sad - though I know there are times to pull my head out of the sand and take note and do whatever I can to learn and deal with whatever hard situation there is - I have to get away from it a lot. It consumes me.

I cannot say I love Camilla or William - so it does not bother me that she got poked with a stick - it would have pissed me off if it had happened to Diana - but that is just the yank in me I suppose. Wink

@McTag,
I followed your comments with interest McTag. I'm all for peaceful demonstrations but I draw the line when violence and wilful damage is involved. As far as I'm concerned they're cowards by covering up their faces and deserve every bit of stick they've got. I'm not a royalist but the intimidation of Charles and Camilla is not on in my books.

Hello dear mismi, I'm around, just not much happening in my life. Glad to see your smiling face, hope all is well with you and yours. No doubt you're busy with the Christmas preparations. Do you put up a tree for the boys? Enjoy your Sunday. (((mismi)))

Well I have been reading along and what a lot of coming and going.

I just thought I'd add a happy note. I picked up Izzie Friday night and we all went to watch Sboy in the Christmas Carol. But before we could set off, Izzie said that the cat had bought in a mouse and was under the TV unit. So there we were torch in hand trying to catch the mouse which then ran out, Fboy tried to catch it, the cat tried to catch it, Sgirl tried to catch and so did I! We all missed! It ran under the sofa! Then it ran out the other side and the cat got it again!!! So off we went again all trying to catch the cat which then ran out the cat flap with mouse in mouth! So that was that!

So off we set, Izzie had her bionic legs and crutches, out we drove into the night to Sboys school. Very nice place it was too.

Sboy was so pleased to see us all, we were very surprised when one of the teachers came up to my son fboy and said I bet your Sboys bestfriend, he told us so much about you! How nice they truly are bestfriends.

The play started with singing and music. Sboy was absolutely brilliant playing a street urchin and Bob Crachits son Peter. He has a real talent to make people laugh! Mind you there was one point where sboy was to come through a side door but he couldn't get it open, the push bar thing was down that was very funny.

At the interval we were mighty hungry, tea, biscuits and mince pies were being served in the dining hall. But that was along a corridor down the stairs, through a set of double doors! No way for Izzie to get down there! So me and my 2 kids set off in search of the refreshments. We got the tea, as we were walking back we kept taking more mince pies and biscuits, putting them in our pockets. But the mince pies were warm and my pockets were steaming by the time we got back to Izzie.

But it was a truly good night for us all and the students were brilliant and of course Sboy was a star, very proud of him. ~We got back late that night all feeling tired and Izzie struggling, but she did it and she saw the show, well done her, proud of you too gal!

Hope you all ok and I hope Izzie will share some of the pic's with you when she can.

X

@annis,
Hi annis, thank you for telling us about your outing with Izzie, I'm sure she would be a proud Mum seeing Sboy perform so well on stage. You are a great girl for taking our Captain along, about time she got out of the house and saw some different faces. Great story about the supper, hope Izzie made a picture of you emptying your pockets of warm mince pies. Smile

@Dutchy,
There's my Dutchy! I am glad you are well. We put up the tree yesterday. It was exhausting. Between the two dogs and the three boys it took all day long. Very Happy It was fun though.

I am so glad to hear about you and Izzie going to S'boys play. I know it had to wear her out. She is so amazing - how she does what she does I'll never know. It is good to see you as well Tulip. I am so glad she has you close. Makes me feel better! ((Tulip))

Love you Iz - rest up sweet woman. ((Izzie))

Rock - These days I have 10 slots in my brain. When new information comes in to stay - one less important bit of info falls out. But you are right. Because I steer clear of the news - I probably am more ignernt than I oughter be. Smile Oh well - what the hell. I manage.
((Rock))

Hey McT - I knew who the cutely petootey was anyway - that time it just came out wrong. Yeah...that's the ticket.Wink (( McT))

That picture is beautiful Beth! How are the dancing muscles? Recovering? I knew you put in a full week here recently. I think you are the coolest. One day - when the boys are a wee bit more autonomous - I am going to try to be more like you and get out and do what I love. So awesome. ((Beth))

Okey doke - gots to get the unsick ones up and send them to church with the Prof.

Hugs to all my sweet Yabber Crew!
