@margo,

Hey good bowling, Oz.

260 is not really enough for the first innings, so our bowlers have to get right back atcha. Game on.

@McTag,
Good Golly Miss Molly

So, a while back I had to ring the windows and door people because my handles have corroded Shocked

D’ya remember this

http://able2know.org/topic/111721-509#post-3496931

Wow, that was 2 years ago... Shocked

Anyhoo. Guess who turned up. Les did ... remember Les - he and Archie rescued me when I locked myself in my room Rolling Eyes ????

http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk41/LzzieIzzie/P1080869.jpg

and we really smiled when I opened the door. We had a bit of a catchup – he was awfully kind to me, bless him, musta left his glasses in the van again; he replaced my handles and locks and.... AND.... they may have to give me a new window for my door as the lead is coming off my beautiful dragonflies (there’s always a sign when something’s amiss!) So, he’s got to report back to the office, then come back and replace the handles and locks on the river door. Maybe... maybe get a new blue dragonfly window for my door – would have the same design as before for sure... but they may find a way of releading the lead... we’ll see.

(sheesh, I was just reading back some of that thread – what a laugh... man, I miss you Blue, so much!) and yuk, how yukky when I had short hair.... eeeeeeeeeuw. Gosh!!!!!!!!

So, I have “small boots” and “foamie shoes” on the way over from the hospital so I can walk better as these boots are now WAY too mahousive. We didn’t have a tumbleload of snow today, just a few flakes. You know in the morning when the mist rises off the river, well, it was coming thru my arch at the bottom of the garden, the sun was streaming through with it’s gorgeous rays... and a few very delicate and fragile flakes were falling from the sky. That was it tho. Scotland and the North are whited out, lots of schools closed and some horrible accidents – very sad...

I am still hoping that we’ll get some snow over the weekend. Bodmin moor had a couple inches and is white... maybe Dartmoor on the high tors has got some....

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh – I just want to get out and drive, I want to walk, I want go and take photos.... I want....... something special to be here...!!!!!!

As my parents always told me “I wants, don’t get”... patience is not one of my virtues Wink

Anyhoo... gotta go for the mo

Hoping all in the USA are having a lovely day. Thinking of y’all.

Here’s to a bit of a dance up North Wink

... he now has a house in his own grounds.... geddit... LOL Razz
xxxxxxxxxx

ahahaha TC - tap dancing... <snort>

@Butrflynet,
Hey Butrfly... well, it was quite interesting - he didn't know why I was so badly bruised (ha, you should see it now... BUHLACK AND BUHLUE ALL OVER!) - my joints often go "out"... and I think he suspected that some of the problem was the boot as my chicken legs really are pathetically thin...and the boots are horribly big. I think that's why he agreed to me not having to wear them all day in the house! I often have a joint go out that goes scarlet - and that's the frustration of it all - it's so unpredicatable. Lupus is far worse than RA - and the connective tissue becomes very inflamed - it can look tiny - but the pain is off the wall. All my other joints aren't too bad right now (surgery steroids help with that) - but my left arch is still causing me a problem - hopefully it'll settle soon.

Thank you for your pics... I was singing "Beauty and the Beast" when I saw it...

you gotta love Mrs Potts!

Hope you and Mom are having a lovely Thanksgiving together and the dogs are behaving Wink Thanku so much Butrfly. x

@Izzie,
Hi Izzie, been watching cricket all day and your boys are doing well on the second day. We're in the last session of play (3.30pm) and they got the Aussies at 5/175 Great sitting out in the sun watching the boys play in steamy Queensland whilst Mrs.B serves me cool drinks. Who said life is not meant to be easy? Smile

Hope your tootsies are on the improve and the pain is bearable, you are such a brave girl. (((Izzie)))

@Izzie,
That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the floppy white sock on the end of your big toe. It looked just like a chef's hat. Tried to find some Ratatouille cartoons to use, but these French guys had to do.

You better watch out. Next time I get a good look at all those colors on your foot, I may be inspired to tickle your foot with a peacock feather..

Holey Schmoley Smackeroos with a tin whistle and cherry on top...

my left foot has gone psycho in the space of a few hours!

swollen and red around the wound and ... it feels like someone has grabbed the stitches and pulled them awful tight...all is so not coco.

have called the doctor and am just waiting for them to ring back - hmmmmm... will see what they say

Anyhoo, other than that, all is coco Razz Didn't get the snowfall - but mannnnnnnn, up North had got feet of the stuff. We are still due for some - but ice is more of a problem here with our temps being minus 5... for us that's reaaaaaaallly cold. Have got a nice fire going and had a lovely visit today, so all is well, except for the burning foot from hell.

Hoping all are good and our USers enjoyed their Thanksgiving. Stories... anyone got stories.

Distressed to hear that the foot is acting up. Waiting to hear what the doc has to say--and, more importantly, what he's gonna do about it.

@Izzie,
Morning Izzie, what a pickle you're in, surely there must be a solution and somebody is able to help you? Isn't there an agency which can assist people like you? We have here, they are called district nurses and they do a wonderful job for the elderly and incapacitated people. Can't wait for the cricket to start in a few hours, a real battle going on. So hope things will improve for you over the weekend. (((Izzie)))

@Izzie,
Hey hey Osso and Boida

ah, good 'ole Devon Docs...

they really are an incredible service

doctor is coming to the house - need to have a look see because of the metal work in my foot and will bring antibiotics with them

i said there was no rush, ya know, as yer passing sort of thing... like anyone "just passes" by this little village Wink

so, not sure when the doc will be here... 'til then... OUCH OUCH OUCH and keeping my foot elevated - dayum, it's verra sore - why do these things always happen at night time

tell you what tho, our NHS is a godsend - the mobile docs really do a good job out of hours - we are very lucky in this country to have this kind of service despite all the whinging that many UK folk do about the NHS, we are so SO LUCKY

hoping the antibiotics will work quick, feel like my leg is in a steel trap Shocked OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

edit: hey hey BEAgle... cross posted... yep, no worries, they'll see me right! ENJOY the cricket hun xxxx

edit edit: oooooooooooh Boida... I have the "Cheetah Diaries" on the TV... brilliant documentary each week... ever heard of Cyclops the Cheetah? Fab one a few weeks ago, one eyed cheetah!

@Izzie,
So good to hear about the mobile docs.

Would we had such a thing. (Do not get me started)

I did have my first eye surgeon come over and watch me through the night after that surgery went to hell with catapulting eye pressure - and before the drive to specialist surgeon in pre dawn through the forest. Not quite through the night, but he did show up, and hourly meds kept the pressure down.

Of course, liability may have been foremost on his mind. But I'm not the type to go there, unless something is egregious. Lucky boy.

I'm glad you squawked that you couldn't do that. Squawking is very important.

Roberta's the WORD on that.

@ossobuco,
Ah Osso...

yep, there's no way I could get a taxi over there... doubt there are any taxis that would even come out this way...mebbe, but wasn't gonna even go there with that one... but anyhoo... the doc's driver just called me to say they won't be here for a couple hours as they are real busy and have to go back to the hospital for more supplies - which is fine and I'm not complaining... just, I've got pins and needles in my whole foot now and it is hurting like hell. Aaaaaaaargh. Have taken some pain killers but I don't know if they will help at all - it's so dang painful. Keeping distracted as best I can right now... hard to keep distracted tho when your foot is throbbing! Blech!

@Izzie,

Hope the doc can sort it for you sharpish, Izz old thing.

Sounds like an infection has set in, so he'll give you a mighty dose of antibiotic to deal with it quickly. (I suppose....what am I, a doctor?). Good luck and please, get well soon.

This evening we went to the Christmas Market, which has growed like Topsy over the years, and is now going great guns in the centre of Manchester. Very busy, very popular, plenty of moolah changing hands. Lovely merchandise, plenty variety. We met our son and his girlfriend to have a mooch around, and we dined on schnitzel and kartoffelsalat from a stall. Very nice too. Weather clear, very cold and dry.

@Izzie,
Geez, Iz, I see your complaint about those around you.

I love a few people around me - some are on a2k but they have their own mishugas to deal with. I'd call if I were in dire straits. My immediate neighbors are good people, and if push came to shove, I'd ask. I think.

This song is past my Dire Straits time - never heard it before, noisy stuff - but, hey:

Izzie querida, I've been in ouch mode, so you've got one sympathetic puppy here. I'm green with envy that the docs are coming to you!! Even if you have to wait. Wonderful. You'd have to wait even if you went to see the doc. At least you're home.

Not sure if I've seen the Cheetah Diaries. Could I have missed it? Anything's possible.

Ouching with you. And heaving an occasional sigh.

@ossobuco,
Osso - that song takes me back - that was my Dire Straits era

My neighbour next door has moved to the farm... so... I don't have anyone here (there's spider Dave across the road... but no... can't do that, actually, not comfortable calling anyone out at night) and I won't call my parents to come out on these roads with the minus degrees and ice outside

but no worries, the lovely lovely Doctor came - gosh, there are some nice people in the world. He actually thanked me for calling him out because else he would be triaging in the city, which he said he'd much rather be out in the country - bless him

so... he's a bit concerned - he's put me on mucho antibiotics... took my temperature (only slight fever), had a good look and fortunately only touched gently to feel the amount of heat coming off it - the whole foot is reddening - so I have to go to hospital tomorrow to have some blood tests - he's told me what I need to look out for (lymph glands swelling and red lines on my leg that look like marker pen Shocked ) - he's said to take the heavy duty pain killers along with the ones I've already taken, which are SO NOT working and, if doesn't lessen, to call them straight back out and they will "review"... i.e. get me into hospital. Hopefully, that won't be the case, no no no, (not gonna be doing that). Have taken the meds and have my foot up high (if I had music I would be can-canning) - BUT CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MUCH IT HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, it's dreadful. Can't put any weight on it at all... if I do, it feels like its going to split apart... it hurts so bad

AAAAAAAAAAARGH!

and breathe... and breathe... and breathe...

Taggers... oooh, I wonder if that's the same in a lot of towns tonight... Tavi has Dickensian Evening tonight where all the shops were open late, decorated beautifully and everyone dresses up in Dickensian clothing. So glad that you got to meet up with your 'little' fella and GF and that you had a great night out. It's also clear outside here and ffffffffffflipping cold - I've managed to keep the fire going most of the day but rapidly running out of logs. Ah well. We've apparently got 2 weeks of the chill in the UK... and can you believe the amount of snow in the North East and Scotland... heaps and heaps and heaps... just so weird this country having this much snow. Not so much in the Southwest... but seems like most of the UK is going to get it. Little fellas school is whited out and rugby has been cancelled, pitches are frozen solid - but his school is high in the boonies and if anywhere is gonna get snow, well, that area is gonna get it. Exmoor is totally white and we're all on severe weather warnings.

shots of Exmoor...
http://www.itv.com/westcountry-west/regions-snowy-shots92245/

Little fella went to the dentist today to have a mouthguard made - he gags with the store ones... so I had to get one made for him (have to protect those teeth in that game) - big bucks for that - ooooof - but if it saves his teeth - then, that's gotta be worth it. He picked RED - to match the school colours Very Happy

OK... I feel like a Hugh Grant film... and I don't have one to watch. Hmmmmm.... gotta keep distracted. Mickey Blue Eyes is on BT Vision... don't fancy that one again tho.

Oh oh oh... and guess what, before the doc left he looked at me and said "can I ask you something?"... so I said .... "errrr yeeeeeeees"... he said "do you have a thing about dragonflies?" and he was looking at the pictures behind my sofa (and obviously twigged my front door)... so I just smiled, as ya do, and said "why yes, yes I do" (so we talked for a few minutes about photography and bugs) and then he left shouting from the door "you take care and call me if you need any help"... HOW LOVELY WAS HE... Scottish Doctor, ya gotta love the Scots a? McT!!!!! Razz He was pretty gorgeous too <swoons> - oh stop it!

<well, ya know, was married to a Scot for 20 years - ha - love that accent!) Wink

ok, I'm rambling now... lalalallalllllllllllllalalallaaaalallaa distract lallalllllllllllalallalalaa

BEAgle and Margo... looks like you Aussies are pulling back up a bit a? I'm sure I just heard the news say you were doing well. I don't really understand cricket - but.... WE ARE GONNA BRING THE ASHES HOME Razz

Margo - I thought I'd posted the other day, I didn't realised you'd left a msg on the 1571 BT answerphone... how apt for tonight tho "Get to the quack, ratbag".... ha, you're brill. LOVED THAT MESSAGE. Razz

@Roberta,
OH Boida - I didn't know you were ouching too. So sorry. I haven't been online and haven't read up today... gonna go and have a look around - I'm on wide awake club tonight. Could not sleep with the ffffffffflippin pain right now.

Ha JPB - well, ordinarily I would not have done that... and in hindsight it was a bit daft in those stoooopid ffffflippin boots (but you know, it really has not hurt until today - its definitely infected now tho)... and at the end of the day, there was a little Goldcrest flying around my kitchen losing his feathers, bless him, so I had to get him out before he flew into the Jaws of Death. He was awfully cute - beautiful little boid. How you going with your leg? You still wearing your boot? Hope thanksgiving was wonderful for you. x

Yep Osso, will join you in a war on pain... I did tell the doc I have NEVER (don't think anyway) had a post op infection... not in the 15 (15 is it)... surgeries that I've had (well 14 proper surgeries, 1 little one) - never had a problem and until thisavo - all was good. I'm sure the antibiotics will knock whatever is going on, on the head. Blood test will just rule out anything nasty, I hope Shocked I don't feel ill at all - but cannot cope with the pain - how can it possibly hurt this much! (rhetorical, it does)
