is FINE indeed, mis. Thanks! I enjoyed all four movements. I hope it brought some peace to the boys. K and I enjoy the symphony. The rest of the family... not so much.
Ok -- confession time. I read your post and Missy's post and then started to listen to your selection. I watched it three times looking for a flutist. I thought I must be losing it because there is no flute part in Eine kleine Nachtmusik. By the time I found the Bach piece I was laughing at myself. The young girl was very good in front of an audience, and she did make me smile.
Mis -- needless to say, I enjoyed your Mozart all three times
I've been on an ELP binge over on RH's thread. I almost posted their version of Pictures at an Exhibition but decided to bring the orchestral version here instead. I love it!
I'm embarrassed to tell you how many recordings of the orchestral "Pictures" I have but my favorite is still the old RCA Living Presence Reiner/Chicago Symphony which was the first LP version I ever bought. The sound on the DVD, uncompressed from the original tapes, is incredible.
Rossini's "La Centrola" is this Sunday's Great Performances at the Met and I'm enjoying it right now.
Love it! I found the best version of "La Cenerentola" in a new Blu-Ray disc with Sir Peter Hall directing and the London Philharmonic under Jurowski -- I bought it through an affiliate of Amazon (I have to break that habit), then found it at Deep Discount DVD for a lot less:
