Jumbo Scallops: Natural or Lab Grown

Lately in the fish case at the supermarket, I've been seeing absolutely enormous scallops for about $9 a pound.

I've noticed in the newspaper ads that these bemouths are referred to as "processed".

Did they grow naturally or are they a creation of a fishy food lab?

Perhaps in my next reincarnation I'll be a jumbo scallop immersed at just the right level to take advantage of the nutrient rich tides.
