1. Are you getting your signal from an antenna, cable or satellite?

2. How is the quality of the sound?

3. Have you checked connection in and out from the TIVO?

3. Are you connected to your signal source directly to the TIVO?

Tivo has interference. Please help. continued.
I have cable and I get static instead of audio. Time Warner is the company. This is on the SC coast.

the lady Diane bought a DVD recorder, I have no idea what to do with it so it sits unopened in the box by the front door. She bought it to use like the old time VCR to record t.v. programs to watch later.

It's undoubtedly the cable causing the problem with businesses robbing the bandwidth capacity during peak operation hours. Ordinarily, if your connections are okay, this wouldn't show up on your picture. Is is a hi-def TIVO? Are you hooked up to their high-speed RoadRunner and/or the telephone service? Are there any splitters feeding different components including other TV's in the home?

Does the recorder also have playback?

Does it have an integral tuner?

Better yet, what is the manufacturer and model number?

TIVO interference. Please help, cont'd.
This just in: It isn't during peak hours - only during day, like mid-day. Yes, it is hi-def TIVO and we are hooked up to hi-speed internet. No other TVs.

TIVO interference.
It works just fine except during the day when it gets periods of 5 minutes of electrical interference when you can't see or hear anything except the electrical lines, and static across screen.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm giving up for today and will call Time-Warner tomorrow.

Mid-day could be the peak hours in your area.

Is your cable fiber optic?

Is it all digital or digital and analog?

There is a splitter involved to both connect to your TIVO and your high speed modem.

I'm assuming the other split is into the TIVO and then connected to your TV input. Is it just recordings on the hard drive of the TIVO that have poor quality? Has the cable company been out to troubleshoot?

Improper cable type can pick up high voltage electrical interfferance. This is also possibly your electrical connections in the room are not isolated from the cable connections.
