Maybe it's on the link; maybe not, but Jabberwocky should be way up there.

Hey, thanks. It's gonna be movie night in the Kicky household this weekend. I love sick ultra-violent movies. I think I'm going to start with Cannibal Holocaust. I'll let you all know how it is.

I missed Yentl. I saw some trailers and missed the movie. I recall Mad Magazine doing a spoof on it. They spelled it "Mentl." Can't imagine why.

I saw several on the list and I disagree with the label "horror movie" for some of them. Irreversible is disturbing, but it is not a horror movie at all and it has a strong moral message. The "sick" effect is caused not by the gore, but by the music and camera movements which were designed to unnerve and nauseate, so as to communicate the escalation of the story.

Salo too contains disgusting imagery, but it is not a horror movie for its does not seek to startle or inspire fear. It is largely a political and cultural statement (IMO).

Ichi the killer is not a horror film either; it is a gore fest with lots of humour.

On the whole the list seems a bit unbalanced (haven't seen any of the top 3 and frankly I am not eager to).

I have not seen any of the movies on that list ( Im surprised! )

I LOVE a good slasher flick

My favorite movie right now is Devils Rejects. Smile
Second to Hostel one and two
And the Saw series ( not quite enough gore but I love it anyway)

Sounds like I need to see some of these.

HMMM, I read the title of this thread as "sick movies" --period, Slasher movies and bad horror flicks are just that, gore-fests , most of which are not worth the time of day.

However, I found SEAN OF THE DEAD a good "Zombie-with laughs movie"

JACKASS II made me physically ill.

Now, there are some gore fests that are just.. plain.. boring. Cheesy , crappy special effects and acting that looks like it is fresh out of a porn-o does not make for a good movie.

I enjoy the ones that are made to look real.

Devils rejects is one of those I consider to be a really good movie.

You end up enjoying and understanding the characters. Of course, Im the sicko who loved the murdering family but.. a good movie SHOULD do that to you. Not JUST turn your stomach

Ugh.

Reading through some of those titles, I see a common theme of rape in them.

I personally hate rape scenes and have been known to return moves with unnecessary graphic rape scenes in them. Just dont think it belongs in the movies . Too often it is used as a sexual turn on and that blows my mind.

I hate horror films but love a good thriller. I am more freaked out by the slasher films than I am about psychological thrillers. The gore doesn't bother me. I don't know what it is...maybe it's the element of thought involved in psychological thrillers....the "whodunnit" and why.

There is something disturbing about this coupling of sex and death.

So many murder / slasher / killer/ death scenes are always begun with a sex scene.

Those two are things that should never cross in my book. Yet we are watching a move on a regular basis and it takes us to a scene of sex and nudity created to arouse us, followed immediately by a gory murder.

If we are ever allowed to pause a movie and explore our feelings, I am willing to bet that it is disturbing to not be allowed to come 'down off of' the sexual arousal before watching a murder scene. It is disturbing to be aroused while someone is being killed yet movies do this to us all the time.

This can not be psychologically healthy.

That is two extreme emotions and when coupled together you get Dahmer..
or Bundy..

wtf?

Sadly, I've never been able to utter those words.

I spent a week watching that movie one evening ... trapped at the movie theater with my parents.
