His rant isn't about roos or pets at all.

The anger is directed toward corporations that make a profit from selling pet foods.

Apparantly this is supposed to be the governments job.

I live in the US Wattsie, so I don't know about australian laws or business practices.

When I go to the local pet smart (our supermarket only carry a small seclection of pet foods, maybe takes up half an aisle, pet smart is a "pet supermarket" and sells large quantities), the food is all manufactured and sold by corporations, not the government.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some government program that produces pet food, if there is I don't know about it.

So, is your real gripe that the aboriginal people are not receiving all the benefits they can from the government, because individual companies have all the pet food business?

Seems like you're put off by the misdirected belief that it's evil to turn a profit.

Economics 101....that what businesses do.

You gotta point, but he should have worked on the title of his post just a wee bit...........before he unleashed the beast.

My cat won't eat anything that doesn't contain animal protein, at least in any quantity. He tried to join PETA once, but was rejected when he tried to eat Ingrid Newkirk's calf at a rally after a three day veggie binge.

I knew I would get replies from those that shoot from the hip without thinking first ....

Just thought I would test the water...

Sorry if you feel a bit guilty Montana.. I suppose you also have a huge range of cats and weird dog species that piddle and crap on other peoples lawn...

Sure I eat meat... But read the complete post.

I did read the complete post and I responded to it.

I have a cat who doesn't go outside, but my neighbours dog likes to **** in our yard ;-)

It's been a while since I've had a nice juicy bacon cheesburger and just the thought makes my mouth water!

That does it! I'm taking some burger out of the freezer right now and I'm gonna make some tomorrow. Don't have any american cheese, so it's either swiss or provolone.

What would you do MMS?

Hey ' Montana ' ........ Why not try a nice hunk of Roo... plust your various cheeses....

No thanks. I already took out some burger and bacon last night, but thanks anyway.

Do you just have a rant over kangaroo, or is that any animal?

You wanna raise hell and call us hypocrites???

My point being that you need to think twice before you pop the next aspirin in your mouth, or tylenol, or prescription drug. Because before the drug administration releases any drug for consumer use and places it on a shelf, its been tested on lab rats....

And...

The last time I check the back of a dog food sack I was feeding my pooch, I don't believe I read Kangaroo meat listed anywhere as a key ingredient.

Yup, which is why I don't take those drugs. It's one reason anyway.

And I checked my cat food as well. No kangaroo here either, but there are animal products in there. does that count?

Exactly! Just a few days ago I refered to myself as an animal lover, so I took it a bit personally and rightfully so, in my opinion.

Why not eat roo? Or dog? Or cat?

It's all in our perception.

We don't eat dog because they are pets.

You say you eat meat but I don't hear you raising a fuss over the way the cow or the pig or the chicken is slaughtered. You are by far the biggest hypocrite here.

Before you start bitching about something, make sure you do your homework first.

Exactly Bella!

Wattsie, you suggested I think before I speak and I assure you that I did, but you obiously didn't.

I would have been thoughtful to your point if you hadn't insulted everyone who has pets.

I actually feel guilty every time I eat meat because I'm contributing to the killing of a helpless animal, but I have to eat and you can't replace the health benefits of meat with anything else.

Do you feel guilty when you sink your teeth in a nice juicy T-bone? I do!

Well, I don't feel guilty eating meat because I am eating meat. It's the nature of life.

But I do feel guilty when I eat meat knowing that the animal I just ate probably was partially butchered before it was even dead or that it was beaten to death on the floor of some nasty slaughter house.

Humans are the only animals who torture their food before eating it.

The meat of carnivorous animals is generally unpalatable. Because of their metabolisms and the byproducts in the flesh.

Unless of course, you are a tigershark. Then you can eat anything you want.

Cows and pigs are fed animal by-products in the US. In essence, we make them carnivorous.

Chai, from everything I've read, there are properties in meat that you can't get from anything else.
