Yesterday I installed a 2510se with 1 inch PVC. I have lost pressure and have a much reduced flow to the home. From what I have learned the piston may be clogged with residue from the PVC glue and needs cleaned. Is this a DIY? The manual was not very helpful.

This could happen with any valve no matter what brand.

What happens when you bypass the system?
Does the piston change position when you manually regenerate it?
The SE has a turbine wheel on the outlet side - does it spin freely?

Check it and let us know - good luck.

Maybe this is easier than I thought since the pressure is still low with the unit by-passed. I assume that the piston moves since the unit cycles properly and is providing soft water. To see the turbine wheel do I just loosen the two stainless screws and remove the by pass assemble?

Low pressure with the system bypassed eliminates the control valve as the cause.
With the system bypassed, check the flow from a few different faucets.

My softener is 150 feet from the house on a 1 inch line which allows for a volume of water to build under the 50 lbs pressure. All faucets give a full flow for a few seconds before a large drop.

h20 Man,

Thanks for the walk thru. I had only cracked the main valve to allow for a slow fill to the resin valve. My problem was simply partially closed ball valve. I am humbled by this oversight but frelieved to know this day will not be spent with tools in hand.

No problem Wayne - I'm glad it was something simple.
You are not the first person that forgot to fully open the valve after filling.

Have a Happy New Year, Kevin
