New softener installs : did you get it filled free?

I hadn't thought about this until last night but was wondering if it's an industry norm for the installer to put in the first full load of salt for free? I did just call my company and they did confirm that they will bring 6 bags out but he was the one that asked me how many bags they said they were bringing out so i'm not sure they had planned on it or if he was just feeling me out as to what someone told me before.
