wasn't the alligator a dance that was performed by the dance partners lying on the floor and wiggling about. Very naughty, as I recall. And of course, for all you guys that are just a bit older (like my older brother) there's the dirty bop.
Oh, you're talking about another dance- not the Watusi.
Now let me think. Rings a bell!
Lola, you just brought another to mind...
The Dog
What a nasty dance that was.
There was the Frug. But I don't think it had a special song. Never heard of the alligator thing. That sounds more like a late '60's be-in, group grope thing! Ha!
The Dog was definitely done behind the gymnasium door at the sock hop. Giggle. We were such horny teenagers.
The 'gator was for guys who became so turned on, possibly from a slow dance, that they had to fall on to their shoulder and enthusiastically kick around in a circle. Their dance partners would step back and watch them while all the other dancers would have to get out of their way or become entangled in their legs.
There's a similar dance move today in exhibition style dancing, but I don't know what it's called.
Gee, that falling-on-the-floor move sounds like that thing Curly of the Three Stooges used to do. Was that really a dance?
Kids today are doing the Dog. I don't know what they call it but it's the Dog. And it's still nasty.
I don't know the Dog but I doubt I'd like it any better than the Alligator.
Phifka Could it be the lambada???
(I just saw your sig, fealola!
)
I'm assuming "the dog" has something to do with "-gie style".

Yes, I'm typing all the way from Tuva!
Thought you were talking about Little Richard until I remembered that his last name is Penniman

John Belushi did the Curly dance in Animal House and The Blues Bros too!
The nasty dance style today is called "Freak Dancing"
And none of those dances compare to the "funk" phenomenon in Brazil that caused a stir. Young girls actually were getting pregnant at these parties and couldn't determine the paternity.
Not naked. ;-) But there was a musical chair/lap dance element.
Ohh, "Going Comando Freak Dancing"!
