Adapted By BumbleBeeBoogie

1 stick (1/2) unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup honey
2 large eggs
1 cup whole-wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose white flour
1 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon freshly cracked OR grated (large) black pepper
1-1/2 cups chopped firm pears (Anjou or Bosc) (2 or 3 pears)
1/2 cup crumbled Blue Cheese (OR grated Swiss cheese)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Marscapone cheese blended with 1 teaspoon freshly grated black pepper as an accompaniment

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and the sugar and beat in the honey and the eggs. Into the butter mixture sift together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper. Stir the mixture until it is well combined. Add and stir in the pears, cheese and walnuts.

Spoon the batter into a buttered 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bake the loaf in the middle of the oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean. Turn the bread out onto a rack and let cool. Serve with the Marscapone cheese/pepper mixture.
