From Motortrend.com, in a comparison between the 2008 V6 Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Chevy Malibu, and Honda Accord:
"Truth is, each of these family sedans is intimidating, at least when looking back 20 years at our "Top-Speed 10" test from September 1988, in which we pushed 10 of the day's fastest sports cars to the limit. Turns out every one of these household heroes is quicker to 60 and the quarter mile than seven of those sports cars, including the Nissan 300ZX Turbo, BMW M6, and Chevy Camaro IROC-Z. Want more? The Altima and Camry outpace the Porsche 928 S4 and the Ferrari Testarossa, respectively, to 60..."
I have a 2008 Camry V6 that was provided to me as my company car. This thing is very quick, if you punch it while cruising along at 25-30 mph, sometimes you can spin the front tires. I can't believe on paper it's quicker than the Testarossa 0-60.
It's funny, this is the fastest car I've ever had(but not driven), and it's a plain-jane family sedan. I recently sold my Chrysler Crossfire, which wasn't as quick, however I don't think the Camry would match it's top speed(150-155).
What is the fastest/quickest car you've owned? Anybody had anything noteworthy?
(p.s. I've seen the new Malibu in person, and it's very, very impressive. Very nice interior, quality fit & finish. Nice to see a legit domestic car, hopefully it helps change the import vs. domestic perceptions)
Its probably not note-worthy, but I'll add it anyways. I currently own a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Supercharger. (the GXP Package) Its got some Umphh in it with over 300 horse power V-8 under the hood.
That is a pretty quick car, however isn't it a 6-cyl?
You are soooo right, and I am sooo wrong.....
>doesn't know what she was talking about but thinks to self, it is pretty damned quick....
>bows to the car king< lol
