Later on today we might have some downtime as I prepare to move to new servers. The move might happen at midnight tonight (though I doubt it cause I'm tired).
In any case once the move starts there will be downtime as I move the site. Once I'm finished it will still take a while for DNS changes to propagate through the internet. In very rare cases it might be about a day before some areas are able to access the forum.
Just a 'heads up'. I'm not sure when each step will be completed as it depends on my schedule and unforseen events. But I will purchase the servers at midnight tonight and will amke the move as soon as I have time afterward. It will probably be sometime during the weekend.
During the move we will also be upgrading to 2.0. It will be very bare initially with many things missing (like the chat room) but they will be added in subsequent releases.
And dlowan's a hippy BTW.
Craven- Thanks for the "heads up". BTW, do you EVER sleep?????
Love it, BillW. Maybe she will adopt that one instead of that poor dissapated creature with the cigarette hanging out of it's mouth.
Experience indicates that these things go quicker and smoother than anticipated.
I'm not very sure about dlowan being a hippy, but since various websites say, "hippy bunniers" were retired ...
Thanks for this 'forecast', Craven. (Nearly as nice as the actual weather f. )
Dunno if past experience will be repeated. I will be both moving and releasing a new set of files. Plus clustering servers is somthing I've never done and don't know how, it's a new datacenter that I've never worked with...
In other words many there are many unforeseens. I don't even know whow long I'll ahve to wait for teh servers to be setup after purchase.
Plus I can easily make a mistake that'll cost a day and lots of beer to fix. Anywho, hope it goes well. It probably will but if the downtime lasts a day or more please don't worry (since worry always translates into email).
AND BTW, get used to the idea of vertical advertising. It'll take some getting used to.
Thanks for all the hard work, Craven! I hope you manage some sleep as well...
Yes, and I hope, you'll get a good mid rat, ehem, I mean Mid Rats ('midnight ration', for all, not so fluent in naval language) as well!
Three cheers for the hamsters! They get a new wheel to power this place.
Don't tell that to loud, Butrflynet! Otherwise they must produce the power for New York, Detroit and Toronto as well!
Don't get her too excited, folks. You know how those California people are about energy crises.
Oh, yikes! I just heard the news about NY & Toronto! OMG Walter, I thought you were joking.
(Pssssssst! I think the hamsters would be more excited by an extra rum ration!)
(I am soooo no hippy - and the depraved Bunny stays, thankee!)
Hope all goes well, Craven.....
Craven, what are they going to do to you when they find out you knocked out the whole NE electrical corridor when you were transfering A2K servers - WOW
Actually it is probably perfect timing, with so much of the NE power grid down. Of course, I don't know how you are routing.
Bill
You probably notice that Craven didn't answer.
AOK Walter, at least we're back up

I bet Craven wears a shirt with a big "V" on the front - ViagraMan ------> He always gets it up
