Any of you guys seen the trailer for this film, yet??

There are a couple of cool trailers on the official site, and this new UK trailer.

I think the look and feel is AWESOME...so much better than any other Mo-Cap film that I've seen.

And, what a cast!!?!

Angelina Jolie
Robin Wright Penn
Anthony Hopkins
Ray Winstone
Crispin Glover
John Malkovich

Very Happy

YEAH!!! Very Happy

I think it's pretty neat...and the graphics (of her...) look incredible!!! Shocked

I think some people may have had a different "mental" envision, when reading the poem (which I haven't...) but I have no problem with her in the role....shoot, I'll take as much Jolie as I can get!!!

I just started reading the Seamus Heaney translation. Jolie as a troll? Wacky.

I'm with Jespah. Jolie as a troll doesn't even come close to what Grendel;s mother represented.

Have you read Grendel by John Gardner? It was a wonderful depiction of the monster discovering his humanity along with his need to be accepted. Grendel is a very sympathetic figure from this point of view and his mother is far more monstrous than in Beowolf.

Take the time to read it. Both perspectives make for a complex, but enjoyable analysis of both sides.

Yes, Diane. I read that some years go and loved it.
How about "Eaters of the Dead"?

Never read it, George, because the title would have scared me off, pathetic wimp that I am.

They made it into a movie and re-named it "The Thirteenth Warrior".
Would Antonio Banderas scare you off?

Yeah, that IMAX should be pretty cool.

Plus, I wouldn't give-up on Jolie just yet.

I swore I saw a quick-clip of Beowulf fighting a HUGE beast with the same shiny-gold skin that Grendle's Mom had on one of the 1st trailers...

Maybe she transforms or something??!?!

I too loved Gardner's Grendel. THAT ruined my chances of accepting Jolie as his mother. Can't see her in her bone cave. Except, maybe, for the lips.

Really!?! I mean...I never read the poem or anything...so I'm not coming into this with any mental pre-conceptions...but I can definitely see Jolie in that role...I feel like too many people are associating her voice as that of a seductress...

Who knows, maybe she changes form or something...I mean she is Grendels Mom, after all...

Plus, I'm not sure how much we actually know, just based off-of the trailers...

They make trailers to give you an appetizer -- only the reviews will really reveal how the film turned out, but Zemeckis is an excellent director for this sort of tale, maybe as good as Jackson. The refined process of converting the live actors to computer animated quasi-reality was made possible by Jackson's conception of Golem in LOTR.

Jackson's Golem was excellent. I still smile when I remember it.

Well, sometimes Golem wasn't a creature I'd smile about, more likely grimace, and especially his betrayal in the end (which I saw coming in the book when I first read it).

This will be on the quiz.

Premiered in the UK last night,Nov 11th,at The Empire,Leicester Square.
In a "red carpet interview",Ray Winston described the whole film as comparing silents to talkies and black and white to Gone With The Wind."
