If the "minerals" causing the problems are sulfates, chlorides or it is high TDS content, a softener is not going to reduce or remove any of those things so the problem will continue.
If you need a softener deal with a local independent H2O specialist that sells, installs and services what they sell.
If you don't want to be treated like a spore that grows into a mushroom after being kept in the dark and fed BS and then end up being totally dependent on a local dealer....
Learn all there is to know about softeners and then buy one online and install it yourself or hire a plumber to do it and you'll save hundreds to thousands of dollars and get equal or better quality and you'll be able to repair it yourself with much less expensive parts you can buy online or from a local dealer of your choice.
If you purchase drop shipped H2O equipment from a faceless online huckster be prepared to
be treated like a spore that grows into a mushroom after being kept in the dark and fed BS.
Support your local H2O specialist ~ support your local economy.
You're sounding more'n more jealous like your good buddy justajurker and the Phone Co talking about their Internet competitors Skype and Vonage!
