I have a Rainsoft Amazon Gold AQ844 CT 1.0

Does that mean it is a 1.o CuFt? It's an 8" x 42" tank, which seems to come close to 1.0 CuFt.

How does that translate into capacity in grains?

It's been off for a couple of years, since it was leaking at the neck. Epoxy glue didn't work. Later I found out you can actually unscrew the valve body. Dried up O-ring. Fixed it and now need to re-program it.

The capacity of a softener is dictated by the salt dose in lbs and then the volume and type of resin in the tank. That volume dictates the size of the tank.

An 8" x 42" should be a 3/4 cuft (usually a 8x44"). A 1 cuft is a 9x 48.

You select the salt dose lbs based on how much capacity you need for the service run, the length of time or number of gallons, between regenerations.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Thank you for the sizing chart web page. I'll read through it today.
So CT 1.0 does not mean 1.0 CuFt capacity?

I have the rainsoft manual, but it is generic and doesn't tell me what capacity I have. H2O_MAN do your setup procedures include more info?

Normally you'd think 1.0 stands for a 1 cuft but to get 1 cuft in that size tank, you can't get much freeboard if any. You should have 50% free board, that would be half the resin bed depth as empty space above the level of resin in the tank.

Yes. It is the installation and set up manual - not the owners manual.
